DEAD IN BED. Thursday’s Constitution says: “A man was found dead in bed at the boarding house of Mrs. Clower, 101 Decatur street yesterday morning His death was due to morphine, but wether taken with suicidal intent or not could not be decided. He was dead, and his pocket was found a bottle containing a little mor¬ phine* The man was T. L. Harrison, a carpenter by trade, who recently came to Atlanta from Conyers, seeking work. Tt appears that he has been boarding in Atlanta with his mother. Tuesday night he went to her home, but found no one there, and, uot being able to get in, left, telling a neighbor that he would be back at 6 o’clock to break¬ fast. He went to Mrs. Clower’s and ob¬ tained lodging. About 11 o’clock he was taken sick, but soon seemed to recover. He fell asleep, apparent • ly all right, and the people who were waiting upon him left the room. Yesterday morning just before 6 o’clock his door was opened and he was found lying dead upon the floor. For some time no one knew who he was Coroner Davis was summoned, and an investigation was begun. His mother was soon lound, as she Was then searching for him, because he had not returned home. A sister of the. man living here was also found The mother and the sister went at once to the house, and a pathetic sight it was when they saw him cold in deauh. Mr. Harrrison has a wife and six young children living at Conyers. The body was taken to that place yesterday afternoon, accompanied by the dead man’s sister. Wether the death was a suicide could not be de¬ termined by the coroner’s jury. There was no evidence to show thfifc the ma n desired to take his life, but the man¬ ner of the death was mysterious,” The remains of Mr. Harrison were carried to‘ Social Circle Thursday for burial in Walton county. Mr. J. O. Bohanan’s new res¬ idence will soon be completed. It will be by odds the nicest dwelling in Honey Creek dis¬ trict. Rev. John A. Reynolds of Clarkston was in the city Tues¬ day and reports things nourish¬ ing in his pari of the moral vin yard. Prof. A. M. McElvaney will resume school at Oak Grove Academy next Monday. Prof. McElvany had a fine school at this place in the spring and no doubt the summer term will be much more largely attended than the spring. REV. J. L. LUPODEAD. This venerable and much beloved man of God passed peacefully away last Tuesday night about 9 o’clock. Mr. liupo had been sick for some time, but had recovered sufficiently to be out for the past few days Last Tuesday he visited Mr. S. J. Cowan, returning home in the evening appar ently none the worse for the trip. He retired about his usual time and soon his wife discovered a difficulty in his breathing and called him, when he made no answer she raised him up in bed and discovered that he was in a dying condition. She then gave alarm and the neighbors gathered in but before they could reach his bedside the spirit had taken its flight. If ev or there was one ready to go at the Master’s call it was Rev. J. L Lupo. He lived in all the wa’ks of life a per feet Christian. He devoted his life to the bause of God and has gone to re ceive his reward—to hear those hies sed words from the lips of the Master “well done good and faithful servant.’ His funeral was preached at the Mithodist church Thursday morning at hslf past 9 o’clock by Rev. H. M. Quillian in a touching manner after which his remains were buried in East View Cemetery. A good man ha3 gone to his reward. Best Bargain Soap in the city —three bars for a nickle at N. T. ZACK AIMANd’s DWELLING AND ALL ITS CONTENTS BURNED, Last Weduesday evning about 3 o’clock Mr. Zack Almand’s house and contents were destroyed by fire. The fire was first discovered by Mr. Vest Farmer, who was some distance from the house. When he reached the liAise it was too far gone to save anything. The family was away from home except his daughter, Miss May, vh > did not discover the fire until Mr. Farmer reached the house. The fire caught in the roof over the dining room where there was a fire durning for the purpose of iron* ing. It is thought that the chim* oey burned out and the burning soot fell between the chimney and the roof lodging on the ceiling. Mr. Almand had just had his wheat and oats thrashed and put them in his wheat house. This was destroyed together with all his wheat and oats His smoke house and provisions were also destroyed, making the loss very severe on Mr. Almand. All that was saved from the house was au organ, sewing machine and a few chairs. The family only saved the clothing they had on. Mr. Almand,s loss is about $2,000 with only $G00 insurance. It tails heavy on Mr, Almand who has worked so hard to accumulate and furnish his nice home.
