R J. Bigham in which he declaitnes any reference to the alliance or the Ocalla platform in bis sermon at Union. He goes so far as to say that he did not have the alliance in mind when he was preaching. There is one thing peculiar about Mr. Bigbarus “statement,” it comes like the other explanations after they have been cornered, in fact it conies at a very late Lour. The good peo¬ ple of Loriaine were stirred from center to eireumfrence by the sermon and we have to see one yet who un - derstood Mr. Bigham’s language other than a lick at the alliance. It is true be did not refer to the alliance in name, but Mr. Bigham knows well enough that it is not Decessary to personate a thing to give it a drub bing. Taking up the report of the treasury and siding with it of course was “pure {^ospel” and that had no refereuce to the alliance. Haying that all the trouble was caused by a want of confidence when ninety two per cent of the business of the country is done on confidence, had no reference of course to the Ocala platform. We do not believe the good people of Lorraine are 6ucb a set of num skulls us to be unable to understand what a man says or refers to when he speaks plain English. The time i» past to dodge the question. There is no use to deny plain English. This fight is on to finish and if the Candler etripe of preachers don't want to get run over they should get out of the way. The pulpit is no place to dis¬ cuss this question, but if these anti* alliance prea< hers insist on making the fight from the pulpit they must take what follows.
