OL. XVI. What is , p P A O' % Castoria is Dr. Samuel Pitcher’s prescription for Infants and Children. It contains neither Opium, Morphine nor other Narcotic substance. It is a harmless substitute for Paregoric, Drops, Soothing Syrups, and Castor Oil. It is Pleasant. Its guarantee is thirty years’ use by Millions of Mothers. Castoria destroys Worms and allays feverishness. Castoria prevents vomiting Sour Curd, cures Diarrhoea and Wind Colic. Castoria relieves teething troubles, cures constipation and flatulency. Castoria assimilates the food, regulates the stomach and bowels, giving healthy and natural sleep. Cas¬ toria is the Children’s Panacea—the Mother’s Friend. Castoria. y| Castoria is an excellent medicine for chil dren. Mothers have repeatedly told me of its good effeet upon their children.” Dr. G. C. Osgood, Lowell. Mass. «i Castoria is the best remedy for children of which .1 am acquainted. I hope the day is not far distant when mothers will consider the real interest of their children, and use Castoria instead of the various quack nostrums which are destroying - their loved ones, by forcing opium, morphine, soothing syrup and other hurtful agents down their throats, thereby sending them to premature graves.” Dr. J. F. Kincheloe, Conway, Ark. The Centaur Company, 77 IViurray Street, New York City. JUST AS WE SEE TH EM. We notice friend Will Mc Knight at home this week. Now, there is a fellow that will do to tie to. Will is every inch a man, in the most admirable of the word. He, in our would do liis fellow man a favor “without reward the hope thereof.” We mind living next door neighbor to Will. J.H. Almand & Co. want your hides, rags, corn, peas and all the cuntry produce at the top of the market. Easter Sunday is here, so are the young ladies, and we w r ill venture the assertion that most all the papa’s in town have been made to know of the bud ding season. New bonnets will mark the period in Con¬ yers. Cheese at 18cts per pound at J.H. Almand & Co,s, Jim Swann has purchased new horses and is in po to furnish his patrons with the slickest turnout in the city. His new horses are beau ties and if you would go driving call at hi3 stables and get fitted with a safe and good look ing turnout. Nice fresh and pure grocer always on hand at J. H, Almand & Co’s. Chas. Rergan is wonderfully even tempered. He never gets cross and peevish, or else hides himself away at such times, and is always as smoothe as placid waters. This disposition has won for him a good many strong friends. The foot is the foundation of all that is good and pure and can be fitted nicely by J’ H, Al mand & Co. - L is a pitty that Mike Hud¬ son has decided to go away and j get married, We hope that it is a mistake, but such is the ru j/inor, it is and to say the least of it, a sad reflection upon the judgement of the poung man. ft Vi o mm ifelik CONYERS, GA., SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 1896. Castoria. “ Castoria is so well adapted to children that I recommend it as superior to any prescription known to me.” II. A. Archer, M. D., iii So. Oxford St., Brooklyn, N. Y. “ Our physicians in the children’s depart¬ ment have spoken highly of their experi¬ ence in their outside practice with Castoria, and although we only have among our medical supplies what is known as regular products, yet we are free to confess that the merits of Castoria has won us to look with favor upon it.” United Hospital and Dispensary, Pres. Boston, Mass. Allen C. Smith, The nicest shoes to he had in town can be found at J. H. Al maud &Co’s. When it comes to close appli¬ cation to business, and love of home, we can commend you -to our young friend Jesse M. Al mand. IJis idle moments are few and always spent at home. J. H. Almand & Co. have a pretty line of nice daess goods - Speaking of court reminds us again that we will have a new Judge and Solicitor. The press has been most liberal in its commendation of Judge Can¬ dler and Solictor lvimsey, since their appointment, and we are all more than anxious to greet them. All fools day was faithfully observed in Conyers by-- In the interest democratic ‘‘har¬ mony” we refrain from writing the name. Mr. D. N. Hudson has many frieuds in the country and a number of them have asked him to stand for the legislature, but it seems that the gentleman has dicided not. to enter the race at this time. His friends think that perhaps two years hince he will offer himself for representative. Some ol the boys went out to the river Tuesdry night and caught 30 odd pounds offish. Trouts and suckers abounded, and this is suficient to start the boys in that direction in earnest. Walter Adair has two of the handsmest store counters in the city. They arh really elegant, and add much to the apearance of his store. Bee McDonald hos stepped into a pair of tan shoes. Next tliing in order is a stable turn¬ out and a trip to see his enam orata - Bee is a clever fellow and most any young lady would do well to smile upon him. Don’t fail to call and see J. H. Almand & Co. before you buy goods. AND ITS CURB To the Editor I have an absolute remedy for Consumption. By its timely use thousands of hopeless cases have been already permanently cured. So proof-positive am [ of its power that 1 consider it my duty to send tu'o bottles free to those of your readers who have Consumption,Throat, Bronchial or Lung Trouble, if they will write me their express and postoffice address. Sincerely, T.'A. SLOCUM, M. C., 183 Pearl St., New Tork. Tho Editorial and Business Management Proposition* of this Puiter Guarantee thi3 generous They say that Norris Hale is developing rapidly. He was never a candidate—save for dollars—until now, but he has aided, hobnobed(?)and bunked with office seekers for the past forty years, and it is but natur¬ al tnat he should have a fair knowledge of ‘‘kissing the baby” and speaking of its beauty and striking resemblance to its mama. They say Norris will be able in a few months, to tell you off-handed, the name of every baby in the county. The friends of Chas. Hudson are urging him to make the race for Coroner. It has been suspected for some time that Charles had political ambition and since he lias gone out of business it is generally conced¬ ed that lie will he largely iden¬ tified with the politics of the county this year. He has a large number of friends who would pull for him should he enter the race for the aforesaid office. In order that there may he no misunderstanding we would remind our friends that the lit¬ tle private office we have made within our large office contains only two chairs—a fact signifi¬ cant within itself—and ho who has the nerve to sit himself down upon one of these chairs, and speak to us of his policial hopes, prospects and troubles is liable to go away with a lighter purse. At the same time we may give you full value in a “free pass.” Our old friend Geo. Kennon has not the brilliant penetra¬ ting eye of former days. He is not necessarily growing ancient bodily, hut he seems to be “bid¬ ing Ins time” to bloom out in the new about the 1st of May. It is stealthily rumored that he will try and get married some time in the next century. Mr. D. M. Almand is the mest faithful Sunday School Supen tendent in the country, and at same time has, in the school at the Paper Mill church the most progressive and conscientious Sunday school we ever beheld. It is a marvel to hear the little children of that school repeat or quote scripture. Mr. Almand has been.for the bast four years, supentendent of this school and we know he must feel well paid for all he has accomplished in the faithful discharge of his duties in this instance. Genial Tom Bryant spent Sun¬ day with his family here as is his custom. Tom says trade is moderately good and politics on the increase. Conyers turnes out severel salesman, all of whom are good men and clever, but none more “well met” than Tom Bryant. Marian Plunket is lavishing a great deal of offection upon liis baby these days. He has an j(j ea that liis is the only baby in Georgia—and to him it, is so what’s the difference? Prof. Flemming is equal to an emergency. It was the plan of his students to remain away from school Wednesday after¬ noon—it being all-fool’s day— andleave the teacher to conduct the school in a quiet and or¬ derly manner. Prof. Fleming < aught on to the plan and an¬ nounced at the dinner hour, that the school would close un til Thursday morning. The chaps were slightly disappoin ed. Mr. Jno. H. Almand is going to have one of the most attract¬ ive dwellings in town when completed. The work in all di¬ rections is being pushed and when finished it will he finished at once. The picnic season is dawning and ere long the young men gal¬ lants will be perfecting arrange¬ ments for an all-day outing on the river. They will carry with them a hack load of pretty youug ladies and baskets well filled and the day will be one of pleasure and plenty. We hope that in this arrangement we may not be left out—our better half will likely be away on a visit about the time this festive suggestion should materialize and therefore we would be con¬ sidered in the make-up of the party.
