A large number of Conyers people went on the excursion to Charleston last Saturday night and returned Monday night. They enjoyed the trip immense iy. Mr. A. J. Smith attended a Board meeting o'f the experimen¬ tal farm at Griffin this week. Lot of fresh candies for the fourth at Marbut & Reagan’s Watermelons are coming in from the country every day by the wagon load, and in a few more days they can be had for a song. The School at Oak grove is presided over by Prof- C. T. Clotfelter a Rockdale boy who is well up in his profescion and deserves all possible success. Mr. D. M. Almand made a business trip to Jackson this week. Mr- McAlister, formerly a mer¬ chant <?f our town, who was here for several days in the in¬ terest of his remedies, left for his home last Monday. Walter Almand is making himself very useful for the firm cf H. P. & D. M. Almand & Co. The colored people are in the midst of their Interdenominational chautaugua. and to-morrow the town will most likely be filled with them. Friend Luther Still, of Adanta, is in thd city to-day. Dr. Quillian will preach especially to the older persons of the community. Everybody should attend. Mr. J. M. Huff is the first to return from Richmond. It is his opinion that the world is full of soldiers, plenty to eat and a good quantity of satisfaction. The Weekly dosen’t give ail the news that occures. The young ladies of the town are thinking of getting up an ice cream festival for the ben¬ efit of the Conyers baseball team. Dr, Ragsdale will preach at the Bap¬ tist church to-morrow. A number of our people have gone to Oak Hill to-dav. Full cream cheese at Marbut & Rea gau’s. A few of her friends enjoyed a lawn pany at the home of Miss Sadie Hale last evening. The rain wa3 appreciated by every¬ body, Mr. John McCullough, of Clayton county, is in the Ful¬ ton county jail charged with murdering his wife while she was out some distance from the house picking berries. The cri¬ me was a most brutal one and if McCullough is guilty no pun¬ ishment would be too severe fo r him. Ruth, little baby of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Still, died last Tues¬ day night. The internment oc¬ curred at Eastview Cemetery Wednesday evening. Religious services at the grave were con¬ ducted by Rev. Winn. The Weekly sympathizes deeply with the parents of little Ruth. The remains of Mr. Ben Ed¬ wards were brought here from Atlanta last Sunday. The in¬ terment occured at Salem bury¬ ing ground in Newton county, He was a victim to the dreaded appendicetis. Several new legal adds in this issue. Mrs. J. F. Mynatt, jr., of At¬ lanta, was found dead in his office last Monday evening with a new 32 calibre pistol near him.
