Conyers et joys a bade 'hat few' towns can boast of. Last Wednes¬ day wag a n pre-enta'ive day, and people were here to trade from be ond Lilhonia, from the heart of Newlon r ouniy and out of Henry. It was a hustling day commercially speaking and the prospect is good for many more like it. Great Opportunity. If you contempla'e buying shoes we direct your attention to the ad vertisement of Mr. A- D, Summers on the 4'h page of this paper. He has p'aced six thousand pairs on the market and offers a bargain in each pair. Died Sunday, Mrs. Winn, of Decatur, of whose illness we made mention in a former issue, died at her homo last Sunday, after a use¬ ful life of eighty years. She was the mother of Rev. P- P - Winn, of our city, aud that gentleman and his wife, were with the deceased in her last moments, She was a noble christiau lady and has gone to her reward. Great Cotton Day, Conyers enjoyed another great cotton day last Wednes¬ day. It began to come in early and by ten o’clock the streets were lined with wagons car rging from one to four bales. It was a busy day with all, and much business caused the salesmen in the stores to long for rest. Drouth Broken. The drouth was broken in Conyers early last Tuesday morning and was a most wel¬ come change from the dry and dusty condition we have endur¬ ed in this section so long. The showers were fitful and light, as though it were an effort on the part of J. Pluvius to give us the much needed relief, but it came and we are all glad. Marriage. Ilis friends here will be in¬ terested "to know that Mr. Jesse T, Wallis, who has been in Al¬ abama for the past year, has become a Benedict. It was several weeks ago that the cer¬ emony that joined Miss Mable Thomas and Mr. J. T. Wallis in marriage was performed in Farrill, Ala. Mr. Wallis has many friends here who joins the Weekly in good wishes and congratulations to the happy couple. A Comunication.
