But mark the “ole un,” if he don’t get there he’ll mos? We do not know how James will run over in his neck of the woods. He was freesilver from principle, gold bug for office, greenbacker from practice and may be something else from necessity, However he is a strong man (physically) and may be able to capture a vote or two. The fight between Branan and Felder in Fulton is going to be a hot. It is generally conced¬ ed that Branan is the abler man of the two and is possessed of the most pleasing address, while on the other band Feld ter has more experience and money. Neither of them are credited with much courage, and it is said that both played out of she war—No man who wilfully staid at home while their coun¬ try was suffering for his ser¬ vices, can he he elected to con¬ gress from the 5th. In the meanwhile, hower, as the aggregation of meteoroids is of immense lengh, one eno of it will encounter the earth in 1898 and the otner in 1900, making, as Prof. Lewis Swift, the distinguished astronomer, of Rochester, N.*Y. ^ says, con dderable showers in those yearsalso. Not only this, but it is stated on the same author icy that many forerunners ol the great shower may be ex pected to come within the earth, t Atmosphere on November 14. 1897, becauso many of the me teoroids are always considerably in advance of the main cluster— Professer Swift says “the thick ness of the meteoroidal steam is 100,000 miles and the dura tion of the shower is equal to to the time of the diagonal pas sage of the earth through it, us- AN OPEN LETTER To MOTHERS.
