' In a letter -n to Dr. Hart¬ f man, dated Dec. 27 th, 18t)li. George A. Blanchard will Li " of Waehing I - f ton, Ga., wri wm tes; “My thr oat had been in the habit of getting sore every year for the last twenty years, and if any medical skill did me any good it was so little 1 did not know it. Two years ago my wife was dowm sick two months, tried two doctors, but the case was a stubborn one ol female trouble. I found in De¬ ru-na not only a good, safe remedy for sore throats, but ervous and purchased a bottle of Pe¬ ru na, and in three days after my wife got up and she lias been going ever since, and 1 have not been bothered with that bad sore throat. It used to last at least fifteen or twenty days- Since we have used your medicine my wife lias not lost a single day, and she has gained over fifty pounds. >) In 0 later letter, July 22nd, 1897, Mr. Blanchard writes: “All of tho sickness we have in the family is when we cannot get Pe-ru-na. Wo people m the South think Pe-ru-na is a God sent blessing. I recommend Pe-ru-na to friends of mine that had asthma and one cured them. Whenever ru-na is used it speaks loudly for itself. ’’ Dr. llartman, tho original compounder of Pe-ru-na, has a recent hook on chronic catarrah which will be sent free by the Pe-ru-na Drug M’f’g Co., Co¬ lumbus, O. These shows will exhibit in Covington,Saturday’ Nov. 13th, next. r ri !ii»c<ly In 1 >;iil> I A IV The absorbing interest of ragedies enacted in daily life so far exceeds anything furnished by the feeble mimicry of the stage that the fact lias become a proverb- But it is seldom that an incident occurs in which is involved so many of those trag ic elements which lias just cured in St Louis. Charles Dre hen shot and killed his sweet¬ heart Bertha Hunickie three years ago. He tried to kill himself, but the bullet glanced from „ his , . skull. . Ho TT was tried .• 1 and found guilty and sentenced to be hanged when discovered sent to Fulton asylum and is there now. He would probably have re¬ mained there but for the re markable discovery of the asy¬ lum surgeon. Prehen’s head was examined and the wound was healed, Dreheu became insane. Now it develops that the bone growth pressed upon brain and caused Drehen’s sanity. This extra growth will be re-' moved and the asylum surgeon has notified the governor that when the wound heals Drehen will be sane again and ready fol’ the scaffold. ITo will be re¬ turned to jail and the day foi tho execution set. Drehen will recover-his reasons, but lose his the same example of scientific surgery. The skill of surgery has been invoked on many memorable occasions but never, perhaps for the paradoxical purpose of sav¬ ing human life in order that it might betaken. It is one of those thrilling episodes in hu¬ man lifo which the daily press, with its marvelous facilities gathers and disseminates iu i these closing days of the cen¬ tury.—Ex.
