Last Saturday night was not tamo by any means. In fact we are told by those wln> were out that it was one of the wildest and darkest nights on record. Generosity among business men is an unknown quantity. Enough of it has never been discovered in this community to create a standard of measure. The youtii who is permitted to prowl on the streets at night need not be expected to find interest at home when he becomes older. Force of habit has ruined many a man. It has been whispered to us that the prospect for marriages in yers for the next ninety days is very gloomy. Is it possible that all marriageable young men have gone to Dry Tortugas? Several of the young men who left Conyers two weeifs ago for Dry Tor togas, Fla,, have written back to friends here and from what we learn they are well pleased, One of them states that they went Immediately to work at $2,50 per day and the work they are doing, while a little heavy, is not hard upon them. Their friends here will be glad to know that all of them are well and pleased with their surroundings, The following tribute to winter is of unknown origin: ‘-It blows and snows and stings your ncse, makes all creation shiver; it bites your toes, increases your woes and freezes up the river. The frost nips all, both great and small, this dismal, dreary winter; freezes type, bursts the pipe and vexes sore the printer.
