It is very likely that, in accord
finer with the recommendation of
the State pe mo or a tic Executive
Committee, the voters of this coun
t v w ill be required to register for
the. primary election. It is thought
by all with whom we have talked,
that ihe county Executive com¬
mit turn will order a compliance
with the recommendation above
cited. The question will possible be deffi

Peek and Congressman Livings¬

Tho former rivals wore smillmg
faces, and seemed to be on the best
of terms.
The colonel and tho congress¬

front piazza one can see the smoke
curling upward, miles away, from
the chimney’s of Livingston’s
farmhouse, beyond the borders of
Rockdale, in a quiet corner of New¬
ton.
Atone time tiiero was no lore
lost between these two men, hut
they a ro too sensible to let politics
maice thorn enemies. Livingston
can afford to be in a good humor,
because lie has things his own way.
and Peek will not sulk in his tent
because lie is not built that wav.

Prcf. Brinkley Dead.
Funeral at Thomson, Wednesday,
Morning, March, 14th.
The sad news of the death of
Prof. Sterling Brinkley reached
Thompson yesterday. Mr. Brink
ley had been ill for some time and
there was hope for his recovery
until a few days before his death,
when there was a decided change
for the worse.
Mr. Brinkley was a very popular
and prominent man wherever he
was known, was very highly edu¬
cated, having visited Europe to
improve himself in the languages
ai d wits a thorough man in the
school room. He resided in Flor¬
ida in early years as sell iol master
and thence he removed to Augusta
as stated in previous article. To
all who knew him Mr. Brinkley’s
own life and character bespeaks
for him more than the author can
pen without going into lengt hy de¬
tails. His funeral will occur this
morning at eleven o’clock at this
place. The
deceased was a brother of Mrs. ft!
E Norman, of Conyers.—Thomp¬
son-Correspondent to the Augusta
Chronicle.
