February 27,2008 ^Reporter PAGE 15A The Public Record Proctor to seek re-election as coroner Joey Proctor has announced his candidacy for re-election to the office of Monroe County coroner. Proctor has served as coroner for 12 years and said he has a strong desire to continue the high level of service and dedication that has already been established. His service to Monroe County dates back to the early 1970’s when he became a charter mem ber of the Monroe County Fire Department and has continued through the years as an Emergency Medical Technician and Justice of the Peace. He has been employed by Georgia Power for almost 29 years and has spent most of that time at Plant Scherer in Monroe County. He is the son of Joe and Geri Proctor of High Falls and the late Anne Williams Proctor. He and his wife, Susan, live in Forsyth and I have two adult sons, Jay and Rick. Proctor said he and his deputies have established an excellent working relationship with a high level of trust between the Monroe County coroner’s office and the local and state law enforcement and medical communities that work together during death inves tigations. This enables him to make decisions that fulfill the legal requirements of the office of coroner and, in most cases, sup port a family’s wishes regarding their loved one. Proctor said since he and his deputies have exten sive backgrounds in the Emergency Medical field, they are able to communicate with the Medical Examiner’s Office in an intelligent and professional man ner during an investigation. By having this knowledge and the established trust, said Proctor, there are many times when they can arrive at a reasonable cause of death without having to submit the family to the additional ordeal of an autopsy on their loved one. Procter thanked Monroe Countians for the confidence they have shown by electing him to three terms as coroner and pledged to continue to serve them. STARR Heating & A/C, Inc.
