"Buzz gave over a decade of serv ice to this hospi tal and kept it thriving through some of its toughest times," said CEO O. J. Booker. The guy admitted he was speeding.” Upon impact, Billy was thrown onto the hood of Lowe’s car and went through the windshield and out the passenger’s window, which was rolled down. He was taken to the Medical Center and remains in pediatric inten sive care with multiple injuries, including a broken neck, fractured pelvis, and a massive head injury. He has not regained conscious ness since the accident and Wanda says his prognosis is unclear at this time. Billy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. “He’s barely alive,” said Wanda. “It’s a miracle he didn’t die.” Wanda says she spends all her time by Billy’s bed side hoping and praying for just a small sign of improvement, but believes it will take a while. “I’m doing OK most of the time. I have to hold it together for my family,” she says. “But, at night when I’m here by myself, I start crying sometimes. Inside, it’s tearing me up.” Lowe was not charged with the accident. The sheriff’s report states the accident was Billy’s fault, since he ran the stop sign. But that’s hard for Wanda to accept. “I don’t understand how they can just let him go,” says Wanda. “He admitted to speeding. How can they just let him go while my baby is laying up here, maybe dying.” Lowe could not be reached for comment. The Reporter. It Works.
