[X Mil J p^j m Bright Beginnings breaks ground Bright Beginnings Day Care is expected to be the largest day care in Monroe County when it opens at this Hwy. 41 lo cation in May or June. Owners John and Connie Roberts (in front of sign) led friends and family in a ground-breaking ceremony at the site Feb. 15. Mrs. Roberts formerly worked at the Monroe Academy 3-K and said she's always wanted to own her own day care. She says it's something the community has needed. Her 6,528 square foot facility will hold up to 106 kids and she'll create up to 18 jobs. Parents can pre-enroll or get more information by calling 992-5513. (Photo/Will Davis) Childs family celebrates 20th annual Christmas gathering BY SUE CHILDS FOWLER The family of Mildred Childs, and the late Jack Childs, had their 20th annual Christmas party in Forsyth at the Holiday Inn. Prior to the dinner and party, several family members went Christmas caroling to the home of Virginia Noll in Culloden. Unfortunately the rain ended the caroling after their first stop. As always, family mem bers enjoyed visiting with each other, taking pic tures, talking about previ ous get-togethers and remembering those that have passed away - Jack Childs in November 2003 and Thomas S. Fowler on Christmas Eve 2004. There were 26 family members present. The guests were Joy Johnson of Knoxville, guest of Jack Hewett, Eric Hearne of Barnesville, guest of Paige Daniels and Tom Leonard of Philpot, Ky., guest of Jackie Pirkle. On Sunday, several fam ily members had lunch at the Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliette and enjoyed shopping, continuing the fellowship and talking about next year's party. Walker and Gantt named Burruss employees of the quarter Burruss Correctional Training Center’s Jennifer Walker of Jackson was named the non-security employee of the quarter. She was chosen for her outstanding work ethics and consistent positive attitude as a personnel technician. Officer Reginald Gantt of Forsyth was- named the security employee of the quarter. Officer Gantt has dedicated his entire career as a correctional officer at Burruss C.T.C. He demonstrates impeccable dedication to his job and is self-motivated. He is noted for his favorite saying “I’m great for a Monday!” Also pictured: Warden Carl Humphrey. Burruss officers promoted Congratulations were in order for Jinkin Hopkins and John Branch as Burruss Correctional Training Center Warden Carl Humphrey pinned on their Lieutenant bars recently. Lt. Hopkins has devoted his entire career with the Dept, of Corrections at Burruss CTC. Lt. John Branch began his correctional career at the Georgia Diagnostic & Classification Prison prior to transferring to Burruss CTC. Lt. Branch has over 20 years of experience with the Dept. Austin James Pippin Brandon and Casey Pippin of Forsyth announce the birth of their son, Austin James Pippin, born January 08, 2008. He weighed 9 pounds 5 ounces.
