Atlanta, July 28 -Recommendation will
be made by the board of trustees o? the
State Sanitarium, and also by Gov. Can
dler. to the next general assembly, to ap
propriate a sufficient sum of money to
make additions to the building of the
asylum a: Milledgeville.
During his recent visit to Milledgeville,
where he attended the meeting of the
board of trustees of the asylum, Gov.
Candler found that the buildings now
were altogether too small for the number
©f patients.
At present there arc over 3.CCO inmates
of the asylum and over 200 insane people
in the various county jails waiting until
there Is room for them to be taken in fox
treatment. This state of affairs has been
In existence for Force time. So large is
the number of patients * hat the ho-piMl
buildings are now being used ar 1 there
is but little room for the sick.
Dr. Powell, superintendent in charge,
was in Atlan r a y* si- rday. He s ?id there
was every r.eM for more room and he
hoped the Legislature would see fit to
appropriate enough money to provide ac
commodations for at lea-st s*>j patients.

Want* to Be School Commissioner
of Houston County.
Atlanta. July 2S—E. S. We Hons, who
was defeated for county school com mi s
fioner by George Smith of Houston coun
ty, and who appealed the case to the state
■chool commissioner, will make a direct
appeal to the State Board of Education.
Wellons had been commissioner for sev
eral years and wh°n the election was held
in May he was defeated by Smith, who
WH3 at the time teaching school in an ad
joining county.
Wellons claimed Smith was not a resi
dent of Houston county, and appealed the
case to Commissioner Glenn. Commis
sioner Glenn decided that Smith was eligi
ble to hold the place, although he was
teaching school out of the county when
the election occurred. Smith proved that
be was a resident of Houston and had
always voted there.
Mr. Glenn received notice to-day that
the case would be appealed to the State
Board of Education, which consists of
Gov. Candler, chairman. Attorney General
Terrell, Controller General Wright. Se -
ret ary of State Cook and State School
Commissioner Gler.n. The hearing wih
take place at the next meeting of the
board.

We have Just seen one of our moet
prominent Atlanta citizens, who has been
spending several weeks at Suwanee

water, the air, the climate and the place.
He tells of a rheumatic sufferer carried
to the spring on a litter, after three
bathings was on crutches, and in a week
walked without support. We have before
given instances of the great virtue of
the water. This ought to be. and will
rapidly become, a popular resort with
people of Atlanta and North Georgia,
both for health and pleasure.
