COTTON LETTKW.
New York. Bept. A—Murphy A Co.’s Col
ton advices from Liverpool were again
to-Jay surprisingly strong, spots 5-53.1 up.
Futures advanced about 12-641, owing U>
anxiety about future supplies because of
Ihc strong statlstlclcal position nnd unfa
vorable tenor of the weekly government
reports during August, Initiating a low
condition In It* monthly report to be Is
sued on the 10th Instant. This market
opened excited and Irregular. 20 to 30
point* higher with pressure to buy, but
reacted 13 to 30 points Immediately on
heavy selling to secure profits. Europe
and New Orleans sent order* to buy a rat
Ills advance le attracting outside specula
tive buying. The size of the crop hinges
on date of killing frost, hence is pure
guess work. The demand for spot* and
the hardening b ndency will hold market
firm nnd probably another epurt when the
government monthly report Is Issued.
New York. Bept. 6. —Hubbard Bros. A
Cos. eay: Liverpool was again active to
day at a sharp advance from yesterday's
closing, and caused our market to open
excited, wth the greatest advance of the
season on the earlier months. When the
call reached December It was found thus
there were large llqutdntlng orders nnd
prices ruled easier, declining some 17 to
IS points from the highest. Subsequently
the market steadied and reacted again a
fetv points, and ha* since fluctuated with
in a ra.llue of 5 points The ilemand for
sport in the South continue.: large, and
owing to the latenees of tho croix very
high prices are being paid. The crop
movement, though increasing dally. Is
stlil very much behind previous season*.
The feeling In ihc trade H> silll very bull
