state has passed. Chatham County
furnished Us full quota of troops, und

either, that there are not In this county

pensions from the state, for the records of
the Court of Ordinary show that hundred*
of petitions have been disapproved and re
turned from Atlanta. It is not likely that
In the mutter of record pensioners or
prospective pensioners from other coun
ties can show better records than tho*e
from Chatham.

The article In the Morning News a
week ago. In which a well-poated rice man
discussed the combine and passed some

trust, has attracted considerable attention,
and has been generally discussed by the
commercial papers as well as those In the
rice growing section. The following ts
an extract from a recent article In tha
New York Commercial:
"A reporter of the New York Commer
cial called at the office of Dan T.iinutge's
Sons' Company, No. 112 Water street, and
saw Mr. John F. Talmage. the president
of the company, showing him some com
ments made upon the proposed deal by
the Savannah News. Mr Talmage sold
there was really nothing definite to re,ort.

the head or the organization expressed

Mr. Talmage was asked whether he
