Instituted an Investigation among the
students of the Ceorgla State Industrial
College to ascertain the material condi
tion represented by the student* In the
school.
There are In the model school 120 slu
dcnts. and In the college proper 539. the
boarding facilities being taxed to nearly
twice their capacity. The total numler
In the entire school I* 4.’>9. Of the T3S
student*. 1W made reporta representing
each a family. Of three twenty widow*

school la far above the average material
condition of the colored people; yet these
facta show very conclusively that the
colored people arc making strenuous and
somewhat succewsful efforts lo Improve
their material as well u* their moral and
intellectual condition.
There was also a vote taken hy secret
tuliot among the students to ascertain
whom the student* regard ar> having teen
of the greatest we to the race, Twenty
frur colored men nnd one Cuban were
among those who received the highest
number of votes, although as many as
fifty were voted for.
In their voting contest the students
seem to have made two distinct divisions
of the twenty-live names of useful color
ed men for whom they should vote. The
