The bulk of these having been re moved, Coumil. April 4 1923. urged the Secretary of War to station more troops at or near th© city and agreed to furnish land for barracks. Nothing seems to have been done on this line and in the spring of 1824 all of the United States troops were withdrawn, on account of the In k of accommodation# Council, on April 15, adopted resolutions appointing a committee to corre.-pond with the Secretary of War. with a view of having at least two companies regu larly stationed here. The secretary agreed to move the troops back If suita ble nnd healthy barracks were selected A committee for this purpose wa* ap pointed by Council, but no report wa# ever made.
