Nov. 28— To-day'* (lock market wa- Ihe dullest since Monday pre ceding the election. There were no deal ing* of any considerable * a , and the movement of prices wa* sluggish and Ir regular and not important. The market narrowed very considerably also, the nam ber cf different stocks dealt In being smeller than lor many day* pas’. It I* cot improvable that to-morrow * holldttv prompted the curtailment of spec ulative ventures. The dealings were left very largely In the hand* of room trader* and the larger InttieMs and the public were apparently out of the market en tirely. 1 in-re '. .is no great presenre of liquidation, but when any con.l.deratle volume of slocks wa* offered there wa* no* suffUdent demand to sntaln the price On Lie other hand even a iwnall d< mand wa* sufficient to effect a conellerable ad vance In price, a* iho scliir., order. In ihe market w* r# also on a very small acale. The market wag very generally heavy In me arller part of Ihe day. largely from the Influence of weakness In the London market. The disclosures through yester day’s London settlement of a long account in Americana Interpreted a* weakening the le hnlcal position of this market and the growing tlghlnes* of money in Ix>n don give* rl*e to the apprehension thet New York may have lo absorb consider able speculative liquidation from that cen ter. In fact ihe selling for london account to-day wa* estimated a* high as 75,000 share, on balance. Our own money market continue* un ruffled. call loans rate falling away a shade In spite of the continued absorption of funds on sub-treasury operations and the postponement of the return flow of iho funds from the Interior The recent dally average transfer of tino.OOO to t2o>.- 000 to N*w Orleans was *upp>men;ed by the transfer of 1300.000 to f'hlcago through the sub-treasury to-day If the activity of Interior business Is to make new demands on New York for currency It may upset calculations over the future of the money market. This may hove prompted some of the disinclination to deal In stocks. The early heaviness of the market gave way quite generally to a recovery In the lata •lealtng* after Igmdon hod ceased selling. Probably covering by shorts around the room was a factor In this movement. The gains were not all retained lo the close, which was moderately srtlve snd Irregu lar A number of October statements of nst earnings ol railroad companies wra published during the day. which were fs vorable with the exception of the Reading company.
