international six days' bicycle race t
Madison dquarc Garden, was started at
midnight to-night before over six thous
und people The race is held under the
auspices of the American Bicycle Racing
Association, and fourteen riders of In
ternational reputation began the HI hours'
grind. They represented as many |utrs
who will race for the six days as teams.
No man will be allowed to ride on th<
track more than twelve hours In any day.

Waller with a score of 2.733 mile* and four
laps Walthoor won the Individual oris*,
continuing alone after bis partner had
dropped out.
Shortly after the start the men showed
speed. The tlrst lap was finished with
Elke* In the lead followed by Stinson. Mil
ler, Aronson. Gougoultz, Dubois and Tur
ville In the order named, with tho rest
bunched.
With the enthusiasm at It* htght. Gou
goultz on Ihe seventh lap. broke Into a
wild spurt nnd galixsl thirty feet on
Kikes The latter and Stinson, by a big
spurt, ratight up with him, but Oougoultz
held the lend to the end of the first mile,
which he made In 2:29 3-5.
The pace was very fast during the first
hour. Kikes was In front at the end of
the hour, with l miles ti laps; Ootigo tz
second, at his saddle post, with the others
closely bunched, trailing Immediately be
