We heard an old hunter say recsntly that be I

?? horn the Booky mountain*. Possibiy-but
years there are more squirrels iu this country |

The South Carolina legislature meet* today In
regular scnlou. Much important legislation Is
looked for. It is believed that a bill will be passed
repealing tbe railroad commission? which hu
proved not only a useloss.bat actually a mischiev
ous Institution. The mauy new and Important
railway enterprises which arc now on loot will go
at cad if not hampered by tbe commission, and
none of tbe established lines require Its super
vision. The people do not want the commLulon.
It will bo a good thing, therefore, if U shall be
abolished. I think It will be.
Tbo obnoxious Ken law must go. There
will not, I apprehend, bo much trouble fn getting
rid ol It. It bu been a curse to the people of the
Hate.
Tho anti education faction will stronnonily
fight the Bouth Carolina college and the Citadel
academy, but It Is doubtlul 1! they can accom
plish anything.
Tbo ultra-economists will fight the appropria
tion ;for the completion of the work on tho Gal-
umbla canal. They will hardly succeed In crash
ing out this great state enterprise.
