in THE HItLPLESS VILLAIN.
Desperate Desmond, the international i

the stairway of The building. The villain
now experiences the sense of being utterly
helpless, and It irks him to think that his
plight i» entirely due tn t'he resourcefulness
of Rosamond, the beautiful girl who re
fuses to desert her lover Claude for Des

IV A SCFFRAGETTE.
| As Rosamond, togged out In Desmond’s ;

tn the room in which Claude is held pris

and Instantly jumps to tfhc conclusion that
she Is a militant suffragette from England.
Grimly the janitor determines that she
shall have no opportunity to worry the

V.—DETECTED.
As the janitor seizes the unlucky Rosa

is qpened from the inside and the poor
girl’s disguise Is nt once spotted, both by
the Janitor and by the poller. It will go
hard with the brave girl now, for the
dreaded chief of fine Thi»-d Section was

“I’m the boy ski I” cries Desperate De«»
mond: “and that’s my coatskl,’’ The villain
