LEROY WEBB, who conducts Webb's Victrola store
at 83 Peachtree street, is a veteran in the talk
ing machine business, having been at it ever since
he left school. He sold the first Victrola ever sold
in Atlanta, the old horn machine having held sway
until he broke the ice. '
Mr. Webb is secretary of the Southern Victor
Dealers' Association, which takes in eleven States,
and has just returned from its executive committee
meeting in New Orleans. President ¥, E. Mahoney
of Chattanooga and Vice President Benjamin Ham
mdnd of Birmingham are both members of Kiwanis
in their cities, by the way.
Leroy Webb was born in Atlanta and has Hved
here ever since. He is a 324 degree Mason and a
Noble of Yaarab Temple, Mystic Shripe. He is mar-

Negro Church Council
Installs New Officers
The Christian Council of the
twenty-six negro churches of At
lanta installed new officers Saturday
afternoon at Big Bethel. Church, Dr.
£. P. Johnson presiding.
Dr. H. R. Butler is the active presi
dent. The council voted to help the
campaign on illiteracy. Each pastor
pledged to bring the matter before
his congregation Sunday.
