The market for futures In Liverpool
opened and closed barely steady. First
prices were a decided disappointment
to the bulla, being Irregular at declines
of some 3 points. To respond to New
York's advance yesterday. .October
should have started the session 8 1-2
points higher, while the later positions
were due to come 8 to 8 1-2 points up.
At the close the near months were un
changed and late months 1-2 to 2 points
higher.
Spot prices were quiet but firm at
17 points advance on sales of 5,000
bales.
On the discouraging Liverpool ad
vices New York opened 1 to 22<polnts
lower, and continued to decline
throughout the entire session.
There was nothing in the domestic
news to which could be attributed
cause for weakness. Qeneral showers
were reported throughout the cotton
belt, with unconfirmed rumors of light
frost at Abilene, Tex. Fair weather,
however. Is predicted for the eastern
belt for tonight and Sunday, which to
gether with the usual evenlng-up over
the Sunday Interval In liberal realis
ing profits and the resultant decline.
The slump Is What Is called by the
trnde "a natural reaction," which, the
bulls claim, will be quickly recovered.
The close In New York was 28 to 44
points lower. V
New Orleans at the close showed de
clines of 41 to 45 points.

Considerable lung wheat wn* put oh the

Oats maintain a strum
last summer. We would call attention to
the light storks not only here but at all
i»olnts In comparison with last year, thnt
!s a most bullish feature, while we believe
that future depmnds will lie greater not
only fori home consumption but for export.
It Is hardly worth whllo to wait for reac
tions to buy on: In fact, we would favor In
vestment purchase* at the market, as well
~i on a scale down.
In consequence of tbe reduction In stocks
anil the small movement. It Is no wonder
that bearish efforts In provisions prove un
availing, especially on any product that Is

a continuation of their last season's policy,

not be lost sight of that a tremendous
