Sunday afternoon. She was the guest

Mr. Harry Purvis, of Gainesville,
joined his family in Conyers over the
week-end. visiting Air. and Airs. AV.
Tharpe Baldwin. Messrs Baldwin and
Purvis made up a snappy two-some on
Riverside Sunday afternoon with the
old man getting the best of the young
er man.
Southern Baptist Loss
Is Largely Restored
Through contributions of churches
and funds derived from the bond and
estate of Carnes, amounting to ap
proximately $700,000 the Southern
Baptist convention is only outstanding
some two hundred thousand dollars ac
count of the defaulting treasurer. The
Carnes estate alone netted the hoard
more than $225,000. The Christmas
thunk offering netted approximately
eelven thousand dollars and approxi
mately thirty thousand dollars were
received last September in special
gifts. The total known defalcations of
Mr. Carnes was $909,000. In spite of
this financial handicap, the convention
lias maintained its regular program
and will so report at the convention in
session at Memphis, Tenn., in Alay.
