I Remember Those Who Are Gone
By Protecting Those Left Behind
What more fitting way in which to honor
those who have given their all that we
might live in peace, than to set up as a per
manent memorial, a saving trust fund for
those dependent upon our income. This
bank is ready and willing to aid you in this
important task. See us today.

THE] ROCKDALE RECORD. CONYERS. GEORGIA
l it til District Track Meet is being
he hi at Emory today. Conyers has
entered. You don’t have to have a
gym or do any roadwork or lieadwork
to enter —all they require is a track
suit. We’ve got the boys and the suits
and they have the heart that won’t
lie crushed. One thing In their favor
is that they are meeting so many of
life's defeats while in school. When
our offfieials put Fulton county in
tlie fifth district some five years ago,
they killed all interest and the.thing
is dying by reason of such imposition.
Wlmt chance have we country schools
against Tech high, Fulton high and a
dozen other highs where hoys stay in
school until retired direct to the old
soldiers’ home.
Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hicks are spend
ing this week-end in Conyers, guests
of tlnir parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. O.
Mann. v
Miss Ola Mann is a conference dele
gate to the Epworth League confer
ence in session at College Park Sat
urday and Sunday of this week. Miss
Mann is one of the outstanding league
officials of the North Georgia Confer
ence.
Rev. A. M. Pierce, of Atlanta, ac
companied pastor Milton, of Decatur,
to his charge at Ebeneezer Sunday
and preached at the morning hour,
both returning to Conyers where they
spent the ihfy with Hon. and Mrs. J.
Will Cowan.
Mrs. J. Fred Davis is spending this
week with lieV mtoher, Mrs. M. E.
Cooper, at Loganville. Poor old Fred,
if he’s like us at all. will he plenty
lonesome at home every night during
her absence.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Granade,
of Rockdale, had with them for the
week-end their daughter, Miss Juli
ette Granade, of Atlanta, and Mr.
James Granade, of Savannah.
Mesdames Chet Cannon and Harry
McElvany were dhauffeured to At
lanta yesterday by Chet himself. Their
evasive answers indicated that they
were either going to Grand Opera or
were going to buy some clothes that
would take them there later on in the
week. Of course, Harry and Chet be
ing expert fishermen, have it down
that there’s nothing up there much
except a bunch of suckers. Well, we
went once and tain’t so —why, you’d
think it a howl full of gold fish the
way most all of ’em dress, especially
up near the front. This alone is worth
the price, in fact better'll the opera.
We got a terrirble kick out of It, but
our wife kicked more’n we did.
Miss Martha Ramsey gave a house
party at her home over the week-end.
Those enjoying the hospitality of Miss
Ramsey and contributing toward mak
ing the occasion one long to be re
membered wiere Missds Mjary Still,
Josephine Smith, Margaret Sprayber
rv, Martha Ramsey and Messrs. Edd
L. Cowan, Cipher Cooper, Jno. B. Mc-
Collum, A. D. and Herbert Summers.
Miss Louizelle Stephenson, our ob
liging Georgia Power company cash
ier, spent the week-end in Atlanta
guest of her sister, Miss Laverne
Stephenson. [j ] M9 |
Miss Sara Whitaker, of Velta, ac
companied her sister, Mrs. H. B. Gib
son. to her home in Chattahoochee,
Fla., for an extended visit.
