Augusta, Ga., Aug. 7. —Thomas E.
Watson, populist candidate for presi
dent, spoke to a crowded house Thurs
day night.
The Grand opera building was filled
with adherents of Mr. Watson, and

Mr. Watson was introduced by James
Cartledge, ex-councilman from the fifth
ward, and spoke for two hours. He
stated thaf every vote cast for W. J.
Bryan would be thrown away, as he
