Baptism a Church
Ordinance
What ordinance is closely as¬
sociated with believing the
gospel?
‘ And said he unto them, Go
ye Into all the world , and preach
the gospel to every creature, he
that believeth and is baptized
shall be saved; but he that be¬
lieveth not shall be dammed”.
Mark 16:15. 16.
What did the apostle Peter
associate with baptism in his
instruction on the day of Pent¬
ecost?
“’Then Peter said unto them,
repent, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins”
Acts 2:38.
In reply to his inquiry con¬
cerning salvation, what was the
Philippian Jailer told to do?
‘‘And they said believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ, and thou
shalt be saved, and thy house”
Acts 16:31.
What followed immediately
after the Jailer and his family
had accepted Christ as their sa¬
viour?
‘‘And he took them (Paul and
Silas) the same hour of the ni¬
ght, and washed their stripes;
and was baptized, he and all his
straightway” Verse 33.
In connection with Christian
baptizm, what is washed away?
And now why tarriest thou?
Arise, and be baptized, and wash
away thy sins, callng on the na¬
me of Jesus, the Lord-Acts 22:16.
By what means are sins wash¬
ed away?
“Unto him that loved us, and
washed us from our sins in his
own blood”, Rev. 1:5.
Into whose name are
to be baptized?
“Go ye therefore, and make
disciples of all the nations,
tizing them unto the name of
the Father and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost,” Matt. 28:19.
When believers are baptized
into Christ, whom do they put
on?
“For as many of you as have
been baptized into Christ
put on Christ,” Gal. 3:28.
Into what experience are
baptized who were baptized
Christ?
“Know ye not, that so
of us as \^?re baptized into
Christ were baptized into
death”, Romans 6:3.
Note- Baptism is a
Ordinance commemorating
death, burial and
of Christ in baptism public
timony is given to the effect
the one baptized has been
cified with Christ, buried
Him, and is raised with Him to
walk in newness of life,
one mode of baptism can
represent these facts of exper¬
ience, and that is immersion,
the mode followed by Christ and
the primitive church.
How is such a baptizm de¬
scribed?
“Therefore, we are b u ri ed
with Him by baptism into death
that like as Christ was raised
up from the dead by the
of the Father, even so also will
we walk in newness of life”, in
Verse 4.
How fully are we thus united
with Christ in his experience
of death and resurrection?
“For if we have been planted
together in the likeness of His
death, we shall be also in the
likeness of His resurrection”,
Verse 5.
What will follow this union
with Christ in his death and res¬
urrection?
“Now if we be dead with Him,
we believe that we shall also live
with Him”, Verse 8.
In what working of God is
faith to be exercised in connec¬
tion with baptism?
Buried with Him in baptism,
wherein also ye are risen with
Him through the faith of the
operation of God, who hath ra¬
ised Him from the dead Col. 2:
12 .
At the beginning of his min¬
istry, what example did Jesus
set for the benefit of His follow¬
ers?
“Then cometh Jesus from
Galilee to Jordan to be bap¬
tized of him.” Matt. 3:13.
What remarkable experience
attended the baptism of Jesus?
“And Jesus when He was bap¬
tized, went up straightway out
of the water; and. lo, the heav¬
ens were opened unto Him, and
He saw the spirit of God des¬
cending like a dove, and from
heaven, saying “This is my be¬
loved son, in whom I am well
pleased”, Verse 16 and 18.
What promise is made to those
who. repent and are baptized?
“Then Peter said unto them,
repent, and be baptized, every
one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins,

Casualties Greater
Than That of War
Director C. A. Williams, of the
Department of Public Safety,
today in an open letter address¬
ed to all Community Safety
Councils, Automobile Clubs, Par¬
ent Teacher Assns., Veterans
Newspaper Officials, Educators,
Organizations, Public Officials,
Business Representatives, Ser¬
vice Clubs and other public spir¬
ited bodies who are interested
in doing something for their
community to join today in a
state wide effort to bring
citizens face to face with todays
traffic problems. This problem
presents a challenge to all sect¬
ions of the State. The enormity
of the situation seems to be lost
to the most of our citizens.
The National Safety Council
reports that “During the period
from December 7, 1941 to June
1, 1945, American War Casualties
including killed, wounded, miss¬
ing, and prisoners, totaled 1,012,
000. During this same period,
when motor vehicle travel was
seriously curtailed, motor vehic¬
le casualties reached a total of
3,200,000 including killed and in¬
jured.”
So far this year a total of 4,153
accidents have been reported to
the Department of Public Safety
In these accidents 517 were kill¬
ed and 3,221 were Injured or
maimed. Any public minded
citizen cannot view the enormity
of the situation and not become
alarmed. Could any citizen of
Georgia stand by and see his
own neighbors and friends and
fellow citizens mangled and kill¬
ed through ruthless
without taking a hand in stop¬
ping this unecessary slaughter?
The answer seems to be “Yes”
from citizens and public officials
alike.
Director Williams said
challenge is confronting our
mmunity planners today.
to stop traffic accidents
they happen; dealing with a
olation after the accident
pens will not brnig back
the dead and neither will it
the crippled. Every citizen
plan now to strengthen the
of safety. The links are

ing.
“Strict enforcement and
fic court cooperation is the
wer to handling the present
mergency in reducing
Director Williams said, “but,
materially reduce the
in the future, it will be neces¬
sary to conduct a long
educational program designed
reach every person in the State,
motorists and pedestrians
A great deal needs to be
in public education and this is
where the civic clubs,
and ye shall receive the gift of
the Holy Ghost”, Acts 2;38.
What question did the Eunuch
ask after Philip had preached
Jesus unto him?
"And he commanded the
chariot to stand still; and
went down into the water, both
Philip and the Eunuch; and he
baptized him”, Verse 38.
How did the people of Sam¬
aria publicly testify to their
faith in the preaching of Philip?
“But when they believed Phil¬
ip preaching the things to come
concerning the kingdom of God,
and the name of Jesus Chrst,
they were baptized, both men
and women”, Verse 12.
What instruction did the a-
.
postle Peter give concerning the
Gentiles who had believed?
Can any man forbid water,
that these should not be bap¬
tized, which have received the
Holy Ghost as well as we? And
He commanded them to be bap¬
tized in the name of the Lord”
Acts 10:48,49.
"If ye then be risen tvith Chri¬
st, seek those things which are
above, where Christ sitteth on
the right hand of God”, Col. 3:1.
