P LENTY of paper is necessary for our
way of life.
, *
You can't have plenty of paper without
plenty of trees, for most of our paper
comes from wood.
America can grow all the trees it
needs, if forests are given proper care
and protection. The greatest hazard is
FIRE, v h destroys not only trees that
have grown, but trees that will grow,
\ Most forest fires are caused by sheer
carelessness. More care with matches,
cigarettes, campfires, will stop most of
them before they start. Help yourself,
Icy helping prevent forest fire*

A Little Chip From
Hickory Hill
By Pearl Hall Beaty
The news was skimpy this
week, what was wrong, Plney?
Boy, but I’m glad Trenton is
getting a theatre, or movie
house. For twenty-odd years I
longed and longed for a movie
house there. Next to good mag¬
azines and books I love movies.
Some people say they are a sin.
when 1 was walking through the
blackest woods I have ever
known then I saw ‘The Bells of
St. Mary’s.’ The darkness was
gone and light came through,
clean and revealing. The
went out of my heart for anoth¬
er day. Sure I might have gain¬
ed the same good from prayer,
in fact it might have been a
kind of prayer, but it was a pic¬
ture that filled my heart. Sup¬
port your churches first, but be
glad that you have the means
of seeing one of the greatest in¬
ventions of man right in youi
little home town!
Our hearts have been heavy
this week. Tom Brenneman,
one of the greatest men of his
time, slipped quietly out of our
lives Wednesday. He made so
many hearts happy and lighten¬
ed so many loads. I think of
him along with Will Rogers.
We will miss him as long as we
shall live.
I hope he has gone to a happy
country,
Where his laughter will live
always;
May he know how much we loved
him,
How he brightened our darkest
days.
His heart was kind and filled
with joy,
He gave it all for others;
To cheer and help was his whole
life,
And especially aged, gray¬
haired mothers!
