SOIL CONSERVATION WITH MACHINERY By Hugh Clark Some of the best terraces built in Dade county this year were built last Saturday by D. P. Hood and Dock Stevens, Jr., on Skin¬ ner Green’s farm on Sand Moun¬ tain. Mr- Hood used behind his Farmall M tractor a 6-foot grad¬ er and in ZV 2 or 4 hours had built a 1200-foot terrace with a channel area of a little over 8 square feet, and plenty of room on the terrace ridge for three good rows. The size of the terrace and area of the channel conform with this year’s AAA minimum specifications, which is at least 8 square feet of channel area or land averaging over 5 r A in slopt and a channel area of 10 square feet on land averaging less thar 5'/r slope. With his outfit, consisting of a Farmall M tractor, 3-disc plow, bush and dog harrow and grader, Mr. Hoed hopes to do almost any type of soil construction work that is wanted on Sand Moun¬ tain. whether it be terracing, turning under cover crops, or preparing land for pasture, hay or other crops. He also plans to get a fresno scoop or a smal’ blade to do small dirt moving iobs, such as opening up terrace outlets, filling in the l ow places P Health TTirougn Chiropracti< DR. G. K.
