The pur¬ pose of the meeting is to conso¬ lidate and announce the results of the June 28 Congressional Primary. Re-elected Congressman Hen¬ derson Lanham Is expected to be present. Dade’s members of this committee are A. W. Peck, Fred Morgan and J. O. Gass. CRISMAN I Up-Ta-Date Line of Hardware [ill Market St Thome 7-1114 Chattanooga, Tenaeaaee LAN HAMS WEEKLY LETTER c YOUR CONGRESSMAN REPORTS Firmness, a weapon for peace The free World has rallied be¬ hind President Truman’s firm stand against aggression in Ko¬ rea. When Mussolini attacked Aby sinia, the League of Na¬ tions applied all of the sanc¬ tions, which were scuttled by Britain and France. When the Germans and Italians entered Spain, the Western Countries established a non-interventicn committee and the U. S. embar¬ goed the sale of arms. When Hitler moved against Czechos¬ lovakia, Munich was the only answer the western countries had to this act of aggression. History has shown that this sort of action in appeasement, and the closing cf the eyes of the western world to reality led to the second World War. Proiit- lng by these lesions from he past, Mr Truman and his ad visors, late in the day of June 26, 1950, acting under the di- rection of and in cooperation wlth the United Nations, brand- ed the attack on Southern Ko- rea by the Communists from northern Korea just what it was, to-wit: Aggression, abso- lutely without justification. It was a calculated risk we had to take. It is our hope and belief that firmness will prevent war. Of course, if Russia is de- termined to bring on the third World War, our policy of firm¬ ness and defense of the free ! World could precipitate World War III. As this report is made ! two of our aviators have been | killed. Ground forces will back pro, j bably have to be sent to up the order of the Security Coun- j cil of the United Nations direct- j ing the United States to aid Southern Korea in every way possible. Free men never vanquished by slaves My own belief is that Russia will not risk war at this time. About this I could be totally in error and the fast march of events may prove me a bad pro¬ phet, even before these words are heard or read. But as Ernest Bevin said at the recent Foreign Ministers New, All-Time Record! That’s the best possible “buy-sign” sign for you. It tells you that Chevrolet trucks are first in user preference because they're first in value, it tells you that Chevrolet trucks are the proved leaders on all kinds of roads for all kinds of loads. It tells you that Chevrolet trucks will CHEVROLET Come haul your in and goods get more all the miles money-saving at less cost facts! per mile. •Based on official dealer-reported sales during th# last full month for which figures are available* AD VAN Cf 1 -DESIGN TRUCKS Williams Motor Company ON THE SQUARE PHONE 37 - TRENTON GEORGIA , Conference in London, "Free men have never been vanquish¬ ed by slaves.” The men of East¬ ern Europe and Russia are to all intents and purposes slaves — slaves of their own Government. So if war must come from the determination of Russia to con¬ quer and dominate the world, we free men should never doubt the outcome. Excise Taxes Reduced The House has just passed by a tremendous majority the bill eliminating excise taxes on such things as baby oil and ladies’ hand bags, and reducing excise taxes on many things that have been considered as luxuries heretofore. To replace the one billion dollars of revenue which this excise tax cut will entail, the bill increases taxes on cor¬ porations with net incomes of more than $167,000. On all other corporations the taxes will be somewhat lower than at pres- e nt, or at lea'-.t not any greater, it is believed that the repeal and reduction cf these excise taxes win stimulate business in the industries affected, such as jew- e lry, fur coats, amusements, and the like. I was glad for these rea ons to vote for the bill. * ELECTRIC APPLIANCES repair- ing — New service from old appliances. ‘‘If it’s electrical, we can repair it.” — Call TA¬ TUM & CASE, Radio Electric, Trenton.
