Advertising rates will be furnished on application DALLYIN’ IN DADE By Myrna It. McMahan Last Sunday afternoon, In all parts of the county, a rather unusual pattern was establish¬ ed by motorists. Cars were parked at irftervaLs on the highway and other au¬ tomobiles could be seen driving slowly along country roads. Oc¬ casionally, one could look be¬ yond a parked car and see sev¬ eral persons grouped in silent concentration. Suddenly, they would start waving their arms wildly jumping up and down, all the while chattering like magpies. After a moment’s thought, we decided there was no cause for alarm and determined that these must be Christmas tree hunters, whose annual visit from the cities and towns to surrounding woodlands was an expected event. Of course some of them are always polite en¬ ough to ask permission from the land owner, but there are others who will go right up in your front yard. If you’re not watchful, and cut down a cul¬ tivated spruce or small pine. In the latter case it Is never known, whether the tree cut¬ ters were just so engrossed In looking for a certain tree that they never noticed a house right back of It, or that they did know and just didn’t care. Those hoping to find a per¬ fect, perky little tree were pro- j bably disappointed, because everyone knows that a tree can look just right on one side, but the other side is usually always as ragged and scrawny as last- year’s bird nest. And Christ¬ mas Eve, after each sparkling ornament and each slender ic- cicle is in place, wonder and beauty of th'> shining tree would dissolve all doubts as to its sagging lines. Those of you who are look¬ ing at your tree right now shouldn’t be hard to convince that, with all the commercial¬ ization of Christmas, there will always be a place for the Christmas tree, for it carries with it the true spirit of Chris¬ tmas which we haven’t the | right to forfeit. Here’s hoping that everyone realized all the good things from Christmas and won’t start worrying about bills until after the new year. The New Home Church had their Christmas tree and a nice program which was enjoyed by a large crowd. The church has added two Sunday School rooms and a stage which we are all proud of. Mr. Robert Dunn put in spot lights and light fixtures thru- out the church and donated the work and all fixtures which the church is very thankful for.
