FOUNDED 1818
COUNTY SEAT, BIAKELY
With 33,137 acres planted and an expected yield of
1,192,932 bushels this year. Early produces more peanuts
than any other county in the nation. Other products are
cotton, cattle, corn, truck crops, and mayhaws. Historical
interest in the county centers around Kolomoki State
Park, burial grounds for a pre-Columbus tribe of Indians.
Trade centers in addition to the county seat of Blakely
are Arlington and Damascus.
In this and other Georgia counties, the United States
Brewers Foundation works constantly to maintain whole¬
some conditions where beer and ale are sold. Close atten¬
tion is given areas near camps of the Armed Forces, and
both military officials and Georgia law enforcement
officers have commended the Foundation’s self-regulation
program. Retailer educational meetings offer sound sugges¬
tions for continued operation in the community’s interest.
