It would seem that Old Mother Nature jumped the gun by nearly a month last Thurs- day. Yes, Thanksgiving Day dawned on about a 2 inch blanket of snow. It was beau¬ tiful; one of those snows that sticks on the trees, bending the small pines almost to the ground. This bit of weather did not dampen the spirits of a group of people who met at the church here to carry out our annual Thanksgiving serv¬ ice, a custom which was start- 0 ^ * n Although only two families from our community turned out to help keep this tradition alive, viz., Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Holtzhower and the Hugh Forester family, we had wonderful service with visi- tors from Rome, Rockmart, La Fayette, Rock Springs, Chatta-i nooga, Lakeview and Chicka- mauga. Rev. J. W. Manning, pastor of the DeSoto Park Baptist Church in Rome, deli¬ vered a wonderful sermon in the morning.
