A new drouth emergency
practice has just been added to
■the Agricultural Conservation
Program in this county to help
farmers plant temporary graz¬
ing, hay, and cover crops this
fall.
The payment rates for the
new practice are highe r than
those icr other ACP practices.
This mo:e liberal ccst-sharing
is being offered by the Federal
Government to help get quick
cover, grazing and forage crops
in drouth-stricken areas.
A special sign-up will be held
beginning September 14, 1954
and ending Septofber 22, 1954
to give every.ne an oppoitunity
to request cost-sharing for the
new practice Requests should
be filed at the county ASC Of-
flee. To be sure of getting
vorable consideration, all
quests should be filed during
the sign-up Later requests will
be taken, but we cannot guar¬
antee that funds will be avail¬
able after the requests filed
during the sign-up have been
approved.
These are the payment rates:

cation of lime fertilizer and
seed per acre, which will be
shown with each notice of ap¬
proval.
Cover crops established under
this practice may be grazed or
cut for hay or silage, but no
cost-sharing will be given for
any area from which grain or
seed is harvested.
If any farmer has practices
approved which he will not be
able to cariy-out but he will be
able to carry-out the practice
above, he should come to the
office within the next five days
and cancel the approved prac¬
tice and request ccst-sharing
for this practice.

gan, Times employee, that his
mother, Mrs. M. C. Morgan
underwent surgery in Atlanta
the early part of this week for
a serious brain tumor. Mrs. A
L Dyer has been brought home
from Memorial Hospital, but is
still confined to her bed, while
Billo Gass has been reported
ill.
