Ga. house at time. g any I Soil Conservation CrrJ. D. E. Morrison, Supervisor Af Webb, Technician We have recently helped Mr. H. B Griffin, on the north end of Lookout Mountain, a co- operator with the Supervisors of the Ccosa River Soil Conser¬ vation District construct a pond for stock water. Since the soil cn the mountain is too sandy for sutable material to build a dam, Mr. Griffin elected tc dig his pond deep and depend upon the water holding from the ground- level down. Mr. Alvin Short, on Sand Mt. near Bryant, has followed the same line of reasoning as Mr. Griffin, above. He has dug his pend deep and spread the soil into a wide, sloping dam. He be¬ lieves, as we do, that the water will not seep out below the level of the ground as easily as through a dam built with san¬ dy material cn the mountains. Mr. J. B Frierson of Chat tancoga and his farm manager Mr. George Je nkins is now in the proce s of building a dam on Mr. Frierson’s farm which is locatd on the Scenic Highway on Lookout Mountain. Mr. Frierscn is having to haul suit¬ able clay material to go into the core wall of the dam SHOP! SAVE! At CRISMAN HARDWARE CO. PHONE PHONE 7-1114 7-1114 Pc-v tms kni rn» 513 MARKET ST.
