She certainly prepared a lot of good looking food including an oven meal, a broiler meal, a surface meal, a deep well cook¬ er meal, two desertsand a salad. Tt the close of the school the food was given as prizes to sev¬ eral lucky persons. Many other prizes were given away by local merchants and Home Demon¬ stration Clubs. The County Home Demonstra¬ tion Council sponsored this school from which i t realized some $50. clear from ticket sales after its share of expenses are paid. I hope it will be our pri¬ vilege t o sponsor anothr such school in the future. Another current activity of the county council is a county¬ wide handicraft workshop which will be held next week—Tues¬ day and Wednesday—at Slygo Community House. We will do copper enameling, copper tool¬ ing, paint plywood trays and perhaps make sewing screens. The work will begin at 10:00 and last all day. Everyone will gring a covered dish and the Slyga Club will furnish the drink. Those who cannot spend the day may come in the afternoon or anytime that is convenient. Everyone is invited to come one or both days. LET US DO YOUR JOB WORK THE DADE COUNTY TIMES SHOP! SAVE! At CRISMAN HARDWARE CO. Civil Service Com¬ mission will conduct a Congres¬ sional examination for the Sev¬ enth District of Georgia. Can¬ didates temporatily absent from their own Congressional Dis¬ trict may b e examined else¬ where, at such examination points as may be desired. The examination is open only to candidates designated by members o f Congress. There¬ fore, any young man between the ages of 17 and 22 who de¬ sires t o take this examination should notify Congressman Hen¬ derson Lanham, Suite 109, House Office Bldg., Washington 25, D. C„ before May 28th, 1955, so that he can make arrange¬ ments for all interested young men to take the examination. Congressman Lanham makes his appointments to the Acade¬ mies on the basis of this exami¬ nation. The person who re¬ ceives the highest grade is des- i ignated as a p r i n c i pal, and those having succeding grades as first, second and third alter¬ nates. After this examination, a candidate must pass a men¬ tal examination (which is very similar to the Civil Service ex¬ amination) given by the Acad¬ emy of his choice, as well as a physical examination before he is admitted to the Academy. RISING FAWN HD CLUB The Rising Fawn Home Dem- ontration Club met at the home of Mrs. Fred Harrison on Mon¬ day night, May 9, at 8:00 p. m. Eighteen members and two vi¬ sitors were present. One new member was added to the en¬ rollment. The devotional was given by Jackie Wilson, a 4-H member and one of the visitors; on a portion of the sixth chapter of Matthew. Miss Naomi Hoi bib Lie, HD Agent, gave a very interesting demonstration in preparing an oven meal. Whije the meal was cooking, a general discussion on serving helps was held. Mrs. Harrison, who is clothing chairman of our club, gave ideas or shortcuts in sewing which she learned while attending the short course in Summerville last month. She also modeled the dress she made at this meeting, and displayed others she had made since that meeting saying she had changed several of the parts of the dress, using methods she had learned. After refreshments of punch and cookies were served and the group had tasted the meal pre¬ pared by our Agent, pictures made by Mrs. Harrison. | j l ONE TRUCK GIVES YOU All THREE!
