DYER MOTOR CO., Trenton, Ga. PROPER SELECTION AND CARE OF HOSE PROLONGS WEAR Women aften feel that they don . t get the j r money’s worth in stockings, according to Miss Naomi Hubble, home demon¬ stration agent for Dade county, and often they are to blame for the short life of their hose. There are four things women can do to prolong the wear of stockings. First, buy to .suit the occasion, then buy stockings the Ij^M fuIly siz and ®’ take put p!< P ‘ ‘ ’ them. 15 denier is best for dress-up and formal wear, 20 to 30 den¬ ier for afternoon or office wear, and heavier deniers 1 r shop¬ ping, sports, and every day wear. Determine your correct size and length stocking and then be sure to buy according to that. Buy stockings with ample tops, plenty of stretch in th r ' hem, or those with a special feature allowing for proper fast- ening. Other causes of runs, may be that the reinforcement at heel and toe is too thin, a shoe lin- } n g ts rough, or friction from bunions or callouses is causing the trouble. Hose that are too loose are more readily snagged than those that m the leg snugly Runs above the toe reinforcement often are caused when too long a stocking is folded over at the toe. There are several popular be¬ liefs about how to care for stockings which have no basis cf fact. Freezing nylon hose be¬ fore wearing them does nothing except get your stockings cold. Washing them before you wear them accomplishes nothing. It only subjects them to one ad¬ ditional washing. Wearing stockings wrong-side-out, in¬ stead of increasing wear, as is popularly believed, cause* short¬ er life. The under s'de is mo-e likely to snag and the seam is apt to catch on objects.
