Gass Home Beautifully
Decorated for Party
The Avans Home Demonstra¬
tion Club met at the home of
Mrs. J. O. Gass December 15
for the annual Christmas party
with the new president, Mrs. J.
D. Pike, presiding. Mrs. Mary
Talley was in charge of the
. program.
The devotional was given by
Mrs. JO. Gass after which a
skit was given by the group, in¬
cluding Christmas carols and
poems with Mrs. Grace Elliott
at the piano.
Mrs. J, D. Pike gave a report
on program planning for the
yearbook. After the program,
gifts were exchanged by the
members, then a film on Ve¬
nice, Switzerland and Italy was
shown by Miss Elizabeth
Thrasher which everyone en¬
joyed very much.
Beautiful Christmas refresh¬
ments were served by the hos¬
tess, assisted by Mrs. Novella
Gass.

at the Legion Hail Saturday
night, December 17.

er, Mrs. L. C. Spears.

Demonstration Club
Mrs. Frank K. Patterson was
hostess to members of the Slygo
Home Demonstration Club for
their annual Christmas party
held Wednesday afternoon De¬
cember 14, at her home in Sly¬
go.
Mrs. Alvin Reeves was in
charge of the devotional which
was a very interesting Christ¬
mas program. Mrs. John Cure-
ton read the scripture and read
ings were given by Mrs. Frank
K. Patterson, Miss Beatrice Cole
and Mrs. Leon Moore. Christ¬
mas carols were sung by the
group.
Mrs. Reeves had planned se¬
veral very enjoyable games and
contests, after which gifts were
exchanged by the members.
Delicious refreshments of
fruit cake and punch w'ere
served to thirteen members.

Ham Shoot Dec. 24
At Legion Hall
A Ham Shoot will be held
Saturday, December 24 at 10:30
a. m. at the American Legion
Hall, proceeds of which will go
into a fund the Lions Club
| started to provide needy fami¬
lies with food, clothing and toys
foi Christmas.
The Ham Shoot is sponsored
be the newly-reorganized Ameri
can Legion Post, sparked by new
officers Harold Gross, Com¬
mander, and Hubert Lacy, Adju¬
tant, A goal oi $60 was set by
members of the post at the last
meeting.
Plans are also underway to
have gas heat Installed in time
for the next meeting, which
will he January 5. John Tatum,
Martin Nethery and Fred Mor¬
gan are the committee in
charge.
All veterans of World Wars I
and II are invited to join the
I.egion and all those interested
are requested to contact Hubert
Lacy in Trenton. Meeting nights
are the first and third Thurs¬
day nights.
SLYGO
The Dugan family had their
annual Christmas dinner at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
Dugan Sunday. All the chil¬
dren and grandchildren were
present except one daughter,
Mrs. Franklin Shambaught of
Rossville, who was sick and not
able to come.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Doyle and
the Brad Gross family all at¬
tended the 50th wedding anni¬
versary of Mr. Doyle’s brother,
Mr. and Mrs. John Doyle, Sun¬
day, at the home of their son,
Homer Doyle, on Lookout Mtn.
Mr. and Mrs. K. D. Patter¬
son or Harriman, Tenn. spent
the weekend with K. D.’s par¬
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pat¬
terson.
Mrs. E. F. Moore visited her
daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Du¬
gan, at Ft. Oglethorpe Friday.
