WISHES FOR PEACE; | NEW INDUSTRIES If Santa could only fill half the wishes many Dade residents would like to see come true for, little county 1 Christmas, our would be bustling with busi¬ nesses Wishes range from a peaceful Christmas to a motor scooter; but all those we interviewed have the same foremost thought —peace on earth and good will j among men, and second, more' industry for the county. Mrs. Ethel Payne, manager of, the Busy Bee Restaurant, wishes! for a nice, peaceful Christmas, with all the family happy. Mrs.; Ralph Simmons, wife of Davis School's football coach, would like to see more industry in the county, more things to do, while Mrs. Homer Reed, clerk; in the Tax Commissioner’s of¬ fice, wishes that all her family! be well for the holidays. M. J. Hale, attorney, expre 3 -j sed the hope for peace, quiet and happiness. His secretary, Mrs. H. F. Allison, wishes for health and a safe journed to and from Florida when she and her husband visit their daughter and grandchildren. Mrs. Louise Wright and Mrs. Clara Mae Brandon of the ABC office want to see more favorable condi¬ tions and equitable prices of farm products for farmers. Over in the welfare depart¬ ment, Mrs. Katherine Davis wishes that ail the papas who have abandoned their families would be put in jail, and also would like to have office space on the ground floor. The stairs leading up to her office in the courhouse are a long, steep climb for the old folks who tkae adv¬ antages of her services. Imogene Blevins, clerk in the office, has to carry so much mail to the post office on occasions that she would like to have a motor scooter. The Dade County Times has had in mind a bright red wheel barrow ever since the post of¬ fice moved. If Mr. Mascunana, G L and Herman had such a vehicle, their Thursday trips with 700 newspapers would be a little easier. Newell Scruggs wishes for his children a nice Christmas, for he and Estelle put their chil¬ dren’s happiness over all else. Next door in the post office, E. L. Raulston wants to be able to get all the mail out before Christmas and then to enjoy a quiet holiday.
