Browny Stephens, who is now working on a magazine in In¬ diana, visited the T. S. Ren- froes and other friends during the holidays. Mrs. Bonnie Lacy will return the last of the week from a vi- sr with her daughter, Mrs. Glen Gray and children in Long Beach, Calif. The T.R Tuckers of LaFa- yette are the guests of Mrs. Tucker's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D T. Brown, while Mr. Tucker Is taking a short leave. Mr. and Mrs. Forest Morrison from Smyrna, Ga. and three children are spending a few davs with his mother, Mrs. W. G Morrison, Sr. and sister. Miss Gladys Morrison. Mr. and Mrs. Jakie Smith are the parents of a new daughter, born Dec. 28 In a Chattanooga hospital. The baby weighed 5 lbs. and 14 oz. Mo f her and baby are getting along fine Mr. and Mrs. James M. Good¬ win’s holiday visitors have been his mother, Mrs. J. B. Goodwin, and his (brother, with his wife and two children, Mr. and Mrs. W. D Goodwin from Reynolds, Georgia. Holiday visitors of the W. E. Page family were Mrs. Roy Cou¬ sins and boys from Greenville, Ga., Mrs. Max Forester and boys of Morristown, Tenn., and Mr. and Mrs. B W Cole of Chattanooga. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Coplan and son and Mr. Aaron Hubble from 8 p a r t a, Ga. and Miss Agnes Hubble from Waynesville, N. C. were holiday visitors of their mo her, Mrs. Kate Hubble and their aunts, the Misses Belle and Ollie Reeves. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stewart and daughter Miss Merrill were the Christmas dinner guests of the W. C. Curetons of Byrd’s Chapel. The Curetons holiday guests were their son and nis wife, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Cure- ton III and Mr. and Mrs. Rich¬ ard Hall and daughter Rhonda all from Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Misses Ellen and Fannie Stew'art’s Monday visitors were, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Gass and son from High Point, Ga., Mr. Attie Stewart, Mary Kathryn, Ellzabe h and Hugh and Miss Ola Stewart all from St. Elmo. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Gass and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gass and children of East Ridge. Russel Morgan, Mobile Ala., and Betty Morgan who has left on a visit with a friend to Wls. were home with their father, Mr. M. C. Morgan and family for the holidays. T. Morgan, Jr., District Manager. Mr. Morgan said j checks are being delivered to county and city officials this week. Of this amount, $2,118,000 went into county funds, $1,342,000 to .school districts, $662,000 to and towns, and $23,000 to the state. BYRD’S CHAPEL CLUB ENJOYS CHRISTMAS PARTY Thirteen were present when the Byrds Chapel Home Demon- stration Club met December 19 for a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. W. C. Payne. Mrs. W. C. Cureton was in charge of the program, which included a reading of the Chris'mas Story, a poem, “Christmas Prayer,” by Mrs. C. T. Payne; a poem, “At Christ- mag Time „ by Mrs victor K ee- and Qne on Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Mrs. W. C. Payne. Mrs. Neil Fischer was in charge of entertainment. Va- rious games were played ..four prizes won by Mrs. W. C. cureton, Miss Naomi Hubble, Mrs. Victor Keeton and Mrs. J. F. Irby. Mrs. Cureton was the only entry in the Decorating and Lighting Contest.
