THE DADE COUNTY TIMES Entered at the Post Office at Trenton, Ga., as 2nd class mail. Mrs. c. C. Morrison, Publisher OUR THANKS It is most discouraging to write news and to give news to the paper and then not have it appear the week for which it is intended. However, we are no different than others and have had our troubles. We have had difficulty in getting a linotype (the machine which sets up the type for the paper) operator an.: the machine hhas become balky and keeps breaking down in dif¬ ferent places. We no sooner would get one part fixed than another part would fail us. This means that the copy doesn’t get set and so doesn’t get into the paper. We have been having a ma¬ chinist here to repair it and hope it won't be too long before the linotype will decide it is well and be willing to run again Also Mir. George McClure, who is such a fine printer we hated to have him change to running the linotype, is now operating it and we have an apprentice printer. Glenn McBryar, from Sand Mountain and who has taken printing in high school for two years, is helping u.s in the back shop. We thank all of you for your patience during these provoking weeks and hope we will soon be back to normal. We especially thank our correspondents, who perhaps have suffered most, for continuing to send us their news during these hot summer months and in most cases still getting it to vis before Tuesday night. MORE DRAGGING Dragging keeps on and on in the county. We get reports from first one spot and then another but it stops when the Sheriff gets there or those involved hear he is coming. This week end at New Eng¬ land it was even worse for at was in the form of a “party ’ Cars with Tennessee tags were dragging with or perhaps it should be against the local boys. Dragging is when two cars line up and from a stopped position see who can reach a certain point first. The object is to see who can change gears and get their engine to respond to speed in the quickest time (possible. Two cars racing in the same direction down a two lane high¬ way with the drivers paying more attenton to their cars than looking to see if there is any¬ thing else on the road! Parents of these children must know they are doing it. Many in the county know who they are. Why not give the Sheriff a hand at stopping it before they kill you? MORGANVILLE H. D. CLUB The Morganville Home Dem¬ onstration Club met at the Morganville Methodist Church. The Ladies brought covered dishes and a lovely luncheon hour was enjoyed by four mem¬ bers and four visitors. The business meeting was presided over by Mrs. Patterson. Mrs. Oliver brought the devi tional and all united in pray¬ ing the Lord’s Prayer..
