THE DADE COUNTY TIMES, TRENTON, GEORGIA, THURSDAY OCTOBER 25, 1956 OBITUARY Clarence W. Cross Funeral services were held Oct. 14, in the afternoon for Clar¬ ence W. Cross, prominent resi¬ dent of the Wildwood communi¬ ty, who passed away Friday,, Oct. 12 . Mr. Cross, who was for a num¬ ber of years a justice of the peace in the Wildwood district, had been employed by Com¬ bustion in Chattanooga for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Wildwood Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lettye Wilson Cross; five sons, Ray and Carl Cross of Wildwood; Donald Cross, Middleville, Ga.; Jack S. Cross, Murphreesboro, Tenn. and Clarence Cross, San Diego, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Doris Thompson and Mrs. Faye Breaux, both of Marietta; Mrs. Janet Hixson, Griffith, Ind. and Mrs. Mary Ruth Smith, Wildwood; brothers, Herman and Washington Cross, Wild¬ wood, and Robert Cross, Wild¬ wood, and Mrs. Ruth Bauer, In¬ dependence, Mo. Dortha Lee Prestwood Dortha Lee Prestwood, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Prestwood, of Long Island, Ala., passed away Oct. 13. Survivors are the parents, 3 brothers, John, James and Bobby; 4 sisters, Brownie, Hazel, Brenda and Linda; grandmothers Mrs. Rillie Prestwood, Long Island and Mrs. Sally Reed, Henegar, and other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Glenndale Church of Christ with Elder Henderson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Moore Funeral Home of Trenton in charge. Makes us feel good for new ones -o move in our community and start right out going to Sun¬ day School and Church. Mr. Canova Guinn, who is employed in Birmingham, spent a few days at home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hegwood and family from LaFayette were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Haston Hibbs. Mrs. Charles Guinn enter¬ tained at her home Sunday with a birthday dinner honoring her' sen on his birthday. Covers were laid for twelve. Frances Wallin spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. Johnnie Tipton at Rising Fawn. We were glad to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ryan to our community. They have bought the old Slayton place and mov¬ ed from Trenton. Robert Picket from Tenn. spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Lester Forester last week. Mr. and MJrs. Tom Holder visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill For¬ ester and Aunt Nomia in Chat- Monday night at his home, were a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Morgan, held Oct. 17. Survivors include Rt. 2, Trenton; three sons, Floyd Crane, Miami, Fla.; Lloyd Crane, Chattanooga, and J. B. Crane, Japan; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several neices and nephews. TRENTON CLUB SEES LANDSAPING FILM A film on landscaping,, shown bv Miss Naomi Hubble, and a demonstration on shrub rooting given by Mrs. M. J. Hale were features of the program for the September meeting of the Tren¬ ton Home Demonstration Club. The group met at the home of Mrs. Martin Nethery, with Mrs. J. M. Case assisting as co-host- css. Mrs. J. M. Case,, president, presided, and a short devotion was given by Mrs. Jules Case. Miss Naomi Hubble, Home Demonstration Agent, asked the group if they would be interest¬ ed in participating in a county¬ wide Home Demonstration Club Achievement Day since there was not going to be a county fair this year, and the group responded with interest. Mrs. Troy Wisner was appointed to serve with representatives from other clubs to work out de¬ tails and plans for the Achieve¬ ment Day. Announcement was made of the Regional Workshop in Civil Defense to be held in Rome on October 5, and members were urged to attend. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses. Miller Bros.
