GROSSES $453.02 Proceeds from the Harvest Festival sponsored by the Rising Fawn PTA and the school Nov 9 amounted to $453.02, it has been reported. Some expenses will be deducted, with the re¬ mainder to be divided equally between the schodl and the PTA Mrs. Herschel Dean, as presi¬ dent of the parent-teacher or¬ ganization, was ih charge of plans for the festival. A large crowd attended the event, which also included a king and queen contest. Jean Morgan and Bob Keni- mer were crowned queen and king of grades 4-8, with Rose¬ mary Kirk and Sammy Payne as runners-up. Queen and king of the lower grades were La- Vonne Payne and Sam Street. Following their selection, the audience again voted for the grand winners, who were Miss Morgan and Bob Kenimer. They received handsome watches from Mr. Ralph Yell of Avans along with other 1 gifts. Mrs. Jakie Smith was in charge of the bingo table, assisted by Miss Margaret White, Mrs. W. C. Payne and Mr. Phillips. Mes- dames Clark Byers and Joe Street were in charge of the food while the hat bar was un¬ der the direction of Mesdames Haston Hibbs and Nell Harri¬ son. The country store was op- perated by Mrs. Charles Long nd Leon Castleberry and the _____ _ „ cake walks were conducted by Mesdames M. R. Wilson, R. P. Fricks, Howard Blake and Mr. G. V. Green. Door prizes of a lamp and clock were won by Johnny Wil¬ liams and Mrs. Myrt Williams respectively. Gifford is doing business from OBITUARY Yancey Y. Stewart Mr. Yancey Y. Stewart, 62, of Trertton, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 16, following a lingering illness. He was a na¬ tive of Alabam and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are his daughter Mrs. E. G. Ferguson of Trentin two brothers, E. L. Stewart of Bakersfield, Calif, and L. M. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Mitchell and Rev. Lloyd Hurst, the pastor, officiating.
