Leaving Friday After 10 Years of
Public Health Work in Dade County

Tuesday by friends and co-workers of Miss Fannielu McWhorter,

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor:
In traveling over our Dade
County roads, I have come to
the conclusion that they are in
the worst condition I have ever
seen. The curves don’t have the
Proper elevation and the drain¬
age ditches aren’t even large
enough to carry the water. The
roads on Sand Mountain need
ground limestone very badly and
the valley roads as well.
As the type of business I am
engaged In requires an automo¬
bile to transact my business, it

roads. There are also holes in
these roads as big as a large
dishpan. We need good roads to
do our business on and also to
transport the school children
over as they go to and from
school.
There is a need for tile to be
put on places where it is
needed and additional tile at
places where there are old
places.
The roads do not have a
crown and when pulling the
ditches they pull on one side
----——i-' and fill up on --- the ---- other. ----— • There —
is a need for lots of wooden
bridges to be replaced with new
concrete bridges and some wood
bridges that could be replaced
with concrete tile.
During these days that grad¬
ing can’t be done, ground lime¬
stone can be spread and bridges
could be repaired and right-
of-way cleared so the curves
will be less dangerous.
—A Traveler.
Editor’s Note: It is hoped that
Dade County will soon be allotted
more money from the Rural
Roads Authority to alleviate
these conditions and the roads
which w r ere covered by floods.)
