Mrs. John York and children of Florida are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Austin in Deer Head’s Cove. We are sorry to learn that Mr. Lewis McBryar has been ill. Mrs. W. P. Fowler of Chatta¬ nooga was the week-end guest of her sister, Mrs. J. D. Pace. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steele of Del Ray Reach, Florida spent three days last week with the Hill Austins. Mr. Austin made a busi¬ ness trip to Atlanta Wednesday. Mrs. George A. Grant has re¬ signed from the staff of the Trenton Clinic in favor of domes¬ ticity, we regret to report. Rev. Fred Forester and family from Alexandria, La. have been the guests of his brother, Hugh Forester, and Mrs. Forester at Head River. Rev. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Allison left Thursday for Houston, Texas, where they will visit their son, L. M. Jr. and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ridley and Mr. and Mrs. Herity and son from Seattle, Wash, have been the guests of Mrs. Ridley’s sister, Mrs. Allison Blevins. Also visiting in the Blevins home have been the sheriff’s cousin, Gaines Blev¬ ins, and Mrs. Blevins from Dallas, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Blevins were also the guests of Mrs. J. L. Blev¬ ins in New England while they were here. Mrs. Charles F. Hanford and children, Chuck and Pam, arrived last Friday from Leesburg, Fla. for a visit with Mrs. Hanford's parents, the H. F. Allisons. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Adkins and girls Susan and Alice have re¬ turned to Dayton, Ohio after two weeks visit with around New Salem and Chatta¬ nooga. Members of the Jaycees and their wives enjoyed a steak sup¬ per at Cloudland Canyon State Park Wednesday night. E. G. Wright, Jr. was the generous donor of the steaks. Mrs. J. J. Schramm of Moul¬ trie, Ga. returned to her home last Thursday following a brief visit with her daughter, Mrs. N. H. Hutchison, and Dr. Hutchison. The doctor, who made a flying trip to Miami for some postgradu¬ ate work this past week-end, re¬ turned Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Richie of Demopolis, Ala. have been the guests of Mr. Richie’s sister, Mrs. Henry Gross, and Mr. Gross. Mr. Gross was in Atlanta Sunday for the showing of a new fall line of men’s and boys’ ready-to-wear. Father’s Day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. George Gifford were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Renfroe of Portersville, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hurtt and boys of Menlo, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Renfroe and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brisindine and son, Mr. E. E. Renfroe, Foi*t Payne; Mr. and Mrs. John Tinker, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Tinker, Flat Rock and Mr. and Mrs. Red Ren¬ froe, Trenton. The following Dade County 4-H’ers attended the State 4-H Council meeting at Rock Eagle last week: Martha York, Davis Club, Linda Jo Pace, Dade High, Larry Konrad, Dade High, and Junior Lancaster, Davis. Also attending were Miss Naomi Hubble, home demonstration agent, and Tom Hogg, assistant county agent. NEW SALEM CLUB MEETS AT MOORE’S The New Salem Home Demon¬ stration Club met at the home of Mrs. Art Moore May 15. The ( meeting called to order by I was the president, Mrs. Grady Mc- Kaig. Final plans were made for council picnic which will be held at Cloudland Canyon July 10. Each member surprised Mrs. Art Moore with a little gift for her trip to Rock Eagle. Our demonstration was on home safety and Miss Hubble had decorated hats with household items which are the cause of many accidents. The members modeled the hats while Miss Hub¬ ble read an appropriate verse. Ruth White, Howard Strawn Married Miss Ruth White became the bride of Howard Hayden Strawn, Jr. Saturday evening at the Mor- ganville parsonage in the pres¬ ence of a few close friends and relatives. Rev. Charles Holmes, Jr. was the officiating minister. Miss White is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude White of Whiteside, Tenn. Her sisters are Mrs. Clayton Patterson and Mrs. Oscar Morgan. Her brother is Hugh White. She received her education at Marion County High School. Mr. Strawn is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Strawn of Hooker. He received his educa¬ tion at Dade County High School and is employed at Standard- Coosa-Thateher. After a short wedding trip, the young couple will make their home in Hooker.
