V / f Tomorrow's)highways of power are being constructed today A SPECIALLY DESIGNED “big; rig” was used to raise the 658 transmission structures in Georgia’s newest super highway of power. The traffic it will bear: 230,000 volts. That is twice the voltage carried by any other line in the state. It is a thousand times the highest voltage used in the home. The recently completed transmission line reaches 102 miles from Plant Yates, on the Chattahoochee river below Carrollton, to a giant new substation at Bonaire, south of Macon. To provide electricity whenever and wher¬ ever you need it, we operate more than 26,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines — more than enough to reach around the world! And hundreds of miles of new lines are being built every year. GEORGIA POWER COMPANY A C I r I Z I N W H f K * V I * W t S l * v I THE DADE COUNTY TIMES: TRENTON. GEORGIA. THURSDAY. JUNE 27. 1957 Ed and Willie Grace Bible have been visiting Ed Jr., and family in Augusta. Mrs. Charles Bible is visiting in Chattanooga. Mrs. Mammie Wise, from N. C., has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Jennie Campbell. « Mrs. Dean Hostess To Byrd’s Chapel Mrs. Dennis Dean was hostess to the Byrd’s Chapel Home Demonstration Club Tuesday, May 28. Nine members were present and our agent, Miss Hubble. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. D. V. Keeton, with the devotional being given by Ruth Keeton. The old and new business was discussed. The next meeting will be the July meeting, since the crafts classes held at the Trenton Meth¬ odist Church was scheduled for June. Miss Hubble gave a very inter¬ esting demonstration on Safety in the Home with each member par¬ ticipating and using various acci¬ dent hazards as decorations on hats. Since most accidents happen in the home, maybe some of us will think of those hat trimmings and be a little more careful. We also planned our club picnic which is an event I think we are looking forward to and something the kiddies will enjoy, too. We sure have been missing some of our members who haven’t attend¬ ed in some time. Let’s all try to attend every meeting and make this a bigger and better club year. The meeting was adjourned and Mrs. Dean served delicious re¬ freshments. Mrs. Bill Keeton, reporter. David Patterson Signs With Milwaukee David Patterson was recently signed into the Milwaukee Braves ball club, it has been announced. The son of Mrs. Clyde Patterson, formerly of Dade County, and the late Mr. Patterson, David has long been outstanding in the sports field, winning many honors. 0 ur sad-faced friend is Bill McGoo, Who thought he’d bought a car brand-new; And while he got a “special deal” His disappointment he can't conceal! While others drive in Swept-Wing style Poor Bill just mutters curses vile: “They got new styling, features, too— “I bought a ‘deal'-boo-hoo, boo-hoo!" Moral: Yesterday ! s looks and features are no bargain at any price! No car is a bargain if it’s obsolete in styling and engineering features. And the Swept-Wing Dodge actually obsoletes other cars in its field with its low, low look of tomorrow and revolutionary advances like Torsion-Aire Ride, Push- Button TorqueFlite and Total-Contact Brakes. So don’t get “bargain-talked” into yesterday’s styling and features. The same money buys the car that’s years ahead. See your Dodge dealer. Join the Swing tO the Swept-Wing Dodge.
