Garden in Summer’ at the July
meeting Df the Garden Club of
Trenton, which met at tre home
of Mrs. Asa Reeves, with Mes¬
dames R. L. Hadden and H. F.
Allison, co-hostesses. Mrs. Alli¬
son presided and welcomed the
guests, Mrs. W. H. Roberts and
daughter Phtricia, of Jackson¬
ville, Fla., Mrs. Thelma J. Brown
■of Chattanoogia>, Mrs. J. G. Neth-
ery, Jr. of Bremen, Ga., and Mrs.
E. G. Wright, Jr., of Trenton.
Mrs. G. C. Tatum gave the de¬
votional and reports were given
by Mesdames M. J. Hale, H. E.
Gross and W. C. Cureton. Mrs.
Allison called the club’s atten¬
tion to the locail civil defense
meeting being held on July 11, at
8 p. m., at tre Court House and
made announcements concerning
the next district meeting and
judging school to be held in Chat¬
tanooga. She also reported on
the recent meeting of the Tren¬
ton Club with the Eeast Chat¬
tanooga club at the home of Mrs.
Boyd Chapman, where an in¬
structive talk on “birds” was giv¬
en by Mrs. a. P. Maness.
Mrs. Roy McBryar gave many
elpful hints and information on
“Dried Materials” and urged
one dried arrangement for the
each member to make at least
winter. Mrs. A. L. Dyer displayed
dried material she had process¬
ed last fall.
Blue ribbon winners in the
monthly flower show are: Mes¬
dames N. H. Hutchison and Asa
Reeves in horticulture and Mrs.
H. F. Allison in arrangements.
A brief memorial service was
held for Mrs. E. G. Wright, Sr.,
who wia»s a charter member, a
past president and honorary
member at the time of her death.
Itwas voted to change the
date of the club picnic to be
held at the home of Mrs. W. H.
supper Saturday* night. There
were 12 present and it was en¬
joyed by all who were present.
Last Trursday evening, Mrs.
E. G. Wright entertained mem¬
bers of the Wesleyan Service
Guild at her home. She served
a delicious steak (tinner to 15
members and one visitor.
Welcome to Mr. and MJrs. Jim
Murphy and son, new residents
of the county! Formerly of Brain-
erd, the Murphys moved three
weeks ago to the Gseorge Massey
home in Wildwood. Mr. Murphy
is now employed with Griffith
Chevrolet Co.
Mr. and M>:s. Virgil Jenkins,
who are visiting in Peebles, Ohio
this week, were hosts at an out¬
door steak supper Saturday
night at their home. Those who
were present were Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Paterson and family,, Mr.
and Mrs. Roy McBryar and Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Geddie.
Mrs. T. J. Bell and children.
Diane, Jo and George, narrowly
escaped death or serious in¬
jury last week as they were driv¬
ing home from Summerville in
a light rain. Having just returned
from a vacation trip to Jekyll
Island and other parts of Georg¬
ia. the Bells had stopped in Sum¬
merville in order for Mr. Bell,
who is employed with Ga. Pow¬
er, to pick up a truck. Mrs. Bell
was driving their late model au¬
tomobile behind the truck when
she was forced to put on the
brakes. The pavement was so
slick it caused the car to slide
off the road, turning over on
its top. Mrs. Bell suffered bruis¬
es and scratches, Diane a heal l
cut and the other two clhildreun
were bruised, but otherwise, the y

POSTPONED
The Garden Club Picnic, which
was to be held at the home of
Mrs. W. H. Brock, July 31, has
been postponed until September.

their Third Polio shot. With
school opening next month we

day for the completion of these

fin’s Blue Devils scored wins ov¬
er Rising Fawn and the Jaycees
by scores of 9-8 and 7-3, respec¬
tively.
The Dade High Girls won a
game with the Jaycettes by a
large number of points.
