Quite a few members are planning to attend the Fall Dis¬ trict meeting Oct. 26 at Spray- berry High School in Marietta, Patricia Wheeler, Patsy Hart- iline and Gladys Mahan, their advisor*, Mrs. Edna B. Sut¬ ton, are planning to attend Degree Meeting Thursday, Oct. 3 at South Cobb High School at Austell. The advanced home econo¬ mics girls will prepare and serve a dinner to the ladies of the Delta Kappa Gamma 6:30 Fri¬ day evening in the Home Econ¬ omics Department. Garden Club The Garden Club of Trenton met October 3rd at the home of Mrs. Roy McBryar, with Mes- dames Sherman Moore and John Reeves as co-hostesses. Mrs. G. C. Tatum, chaplain, opened the meeting with prayer, after which reports were given by various members. Outstand¬ ing among these was the amount . reported from the Thrift Shop which the club had sponsored for three weeks, re¬ sulting in $125.00 for the Dade High landscaping fund and $8.50 for the Jr. Garden Club fund which will go toward a bird bath to be placed on the school grounds. Among other items of busin¬ ess, Mrs. H. F. Allison, president reported on the district meeting which she and Mrs. W. C. Cure- ton had attended and called the club’s attention to the changes being made for eligibility of a standard club. Following this, the club voted to subscribe to the National Gardener to be placed in the club library and Mrs. E. A. Ellis, conservation and roadside chairman, read an article from the latest issue of the Volunteer Gardener con¬ cerning roadside development, stressing particularly the anti¬ litter project during the first two weeks of October. It was a 1 so reported that litterbug bags were hung around the tables at the flower show in the Dade County Fair which were used by a good many people. A litter- bug poster made by Jr. Garden Club members was displayed at the Fair and also the theme of the show “Indian Summer” was attractively displayed on white poster paper with colored letters and leaves, this being done by Mrs. Fran Tatum. Mrs. J. G. Nethery read a poem titiled “Jacobson’s Ode to the Wind”, after which a brief memorial service was held for Mrs. W. G. Morrison, Sr., honar- ary member, with Mesdames Tatum and Ellis in charge. The program consisted of two piano solos by Miss Shirley Cur- ,eton, an article given by Mrs. Asa Reeves on “The Growing of Bulbs” and a talk by Mrs. A: L. Dyer of her recent trip to Ger¬ many and other countries, with costumes and pictures high¬ lighting her report. Mrs. McBryar had beautiful arangements throughout her home and tea was served to 18 members and 3 guests, Mrs. Lewis McBryar, Mrs. Virgil Jen¬ kins and Miss Shirley Cureton. A plant exchange was held at the close of the meeting - . Winners In the monthly flow- -er show were: Mesdames E. A. Ellis, Roy McBryar, W. C. Cure- ton, Asa Reeves, H. E.
