Jess Gober, 85, of Egypt
Hollow Community in Dade
County, died March 10, in a
Chattanooga Hospital.
are two sisters, Mrs. Virgie
Cureton, Trenton, Ga., and Mrs.
Will Long, Birmingham, Ala.;
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tues¬
day afternoon with the Rev.
Eugene Kirk officiating. Inter-
ment in Wildwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews of the
deceased.

Installation of Officers
Sunday night, Feb. 23, the
newly organized W- M. U- of Cal¬
vary Baptist Church installed its
officers at the church using the
theme “we follow in His paths”. J
A white poster with a silver cross
was used where each officer
placed a path leading to the foot
of the cross with a printed word
v/hich she emphasized. Mrs. S. J-
Hale- Associational W. M. U. dir-
jector, presided in the installa¬
tion service. Mr. Ewell Dickerson
sang a solo “Walking in Sun¬
light”. The pastor, Rev. Jim
Nabors, gave the prayer of dedi¬
cation.
March 7 Meeting
W- M- U. of Calvary Baptist
Church met Friday night March
7, in the home of Mrs. Ruth
Reeves for the regular monthly
meeting.
The president, Mrs. Opal Gif¬
ford, presided over the meeting
and the devotional was given by
Mrs. Jim Nabors. Mrs. Reeves
gave the program using Missionary! the topic
“How Woman’s
Union Began”.
Others on the program were
Mesdames Virginia Durham,
Kathleen Page, Helen Bradford,
Velma Gifford, Hazel McMahan,
Mae Quenton, and Opal Gifford.
Refreshments were served to

Sunday was such a beautiful
day it brought out several visi¬
tors. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Dugan from Ft. Oglethorpe, Mr.
J. L- Moore from Chickamauga,
Mr. and Mrs. Benton Patterson
and girls and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Reeves and girls all visited the
E F. Moores.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Patterson
and girls visited in East Lake
and Whitwell, Sunday.
Mrs. Durham went to Rome to
visit Mr. Ernest Durham and
Carlton, both are feeling fine
but a little homesick, of course.
Several from Slygo attended
the funeral of Mr. Ryan at
Morganville Sunday. We would
like to express our deepest sym¬
pathy to all the family.
Joyce Patterson spent the
night with Carolyn Ford Tues¬
day. Clifford Abbott spent the
night with Larry Moore Wednes¬
day.
Little Carolyn Patterson has
igone back to school after toeing
at home sick all last week.
We enjoyed the homemade
