Published — Since 1901 Dade State Baseball Champs The goal of repeating as Class C State Champions has been reached by the Dade High Wild¬ cats, who, expertly piloted by Coach Delmas Freeman, ripped Clay County 4-1 in the semi¬ finals, and then repeated their victory with a 12-5 triumph over Odum High in the state finals. The two games were played Friday, May 23, at Thomaston, Georgia. David Steele pitched a master¬ ful two-hitter in the opener, while fanning six and walking none. Hershel Dugan, a .422 hitter (throughout the season, rapped triple and a single, and captain Frankie Woodfin tagged two singles to lead the eight-hit (attack. Clay County’s only run was scored on three errors in the first innings. In the feature game of NUMBER 22 Cloverdale Road Project Started; 301 R. W. Being Secured. Work on the Cloverdale Rural Road Project has started, ac¬ cording to Ordinary A. W. Peck, and right-of-way deeds for No. 301 across Sand Mountain, a state project, are being secured. The Cloverdale road will be widened and paved, with danger ous curves straightened out, while the improvements planned ;for State Highway 301 to Bry¬ ant, Ala. also will include widen¬ ing and paving. The latter project, which has been in the offing for about a year and a half, will begin, when, final approvals are made, at the intersection of No, 143 and No. 301 on the side of Sand Moun¬ tain and run past Christian’s Store and Davis School. Work on the Sand Mountain brow to Hale’s Gap. W. 0. Stevensons Injured In Wreck Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Stevenson were injured when the car in which they were riding was in collison with a state highway tractor in front of the El Rancho Courts in Trenton Tuesday after noon. They were taken by Moore’s ambulance to the Tren¬ ton Clinic for treatment, and then to Tri-County hospital. Both vehicles were headed north. It was reported that the Stevenson car struck the rear wheel on the tractor, with the impact sending the car across the highway and into a ditch. The front end of the car was damaged.
